Text messaging.....ideas, thoughts, improvements, etc

So maybe a solution already exists but I would like to have my text messages synced with my computer - maybe with Chrome. I do not like using Google Talk because it texts from my Google Talk phone number and my friends know my standard number.

Can Google Talk handle my texts like they handle my voicemail?

Any other solutions to get my texts synced with my computer?

Thanks Darb. I tried it but it force closes when I try to do the initial backup. maybe it's not ready for ICS or the GNEX???

Too bad...this would be something I'm interested in.

i used SMS Backup by Studer for a long time, but it wouldn't consistently backup all my SMS messages on ICS. i switched to SMS Backup + by Berkel and it appears to be working quite well.

I'm with nateap87. Use Google Voice. For a month or so, you'll have to tell your inattentive friends your new number for texting. All of my friends have two numbers for me, one for voice and one for text (and some just call the text number and it forwards to the voice line).

They'll get over it and start doing it as well. I've converted 8 of my friends to texting with Google Voice for free.
