Help Text Messaging Issue

Lurker
Hey,

I have two issues..

1. When I have S Voice enabled (so I say "Hi Galaxy" to unlock the device), the phone fails to vibrate when I receive a text message.
Why? And how do I make it vibrate? Or do I just have to have S Voice disabled?

2. I had a problem with receiving messages, they sent out a new phone, nothing really changed, a new SIM is on it's way but was wondering if anyone could help? I posted this on another forum without much luck...
Everything is awesome! Except this..All my texts send fine, and I receive them fine. But, one of my friends, for some reason, from her iPhone, whenever she sends me a text, it is always delayed..Always takes 20-45 minutes or even four hours a few times to come through. Never had a problem with texts coming from her phone on my old one. As far as I know, she is the only contact I have who I have problems receiving text messages from, all my other contacts seem to be fine as far as I know. Likewise, her phone does not have any problems sending text messages and no one else she texts has problems receiving them. Is there just some kind of conflict here between our two phones?
How do I fix this? Why are the messages from this one number being delayed?
I'm on EE and she is on Network 3 (I think).

And finally, although this isn't really a problem, I'm sure on my old phone the time would appear top right corner. When the screen is locked, it doesn't appear, but then reappears when unlocked..Why? And is it suppose to be like that?

Oh, and how do I enable auto-correct so it corrects the mis-spelled words automatically for me like on the HTC keyboard? :)

Thanks for any help :)

Welcome to the forums Will :)

I will try and answer a couple of these questions as i am not familiar with S Voice and such...

So the issue with the one contact having delayed messages, have you tried deleting the contact and readding it, sometimes bugs can arise and you can see if this fixes it. Also when you send texts to her does she receive them right away? Because this could also be an issue with her device not sending the texts.

I am pretty sure if you go into Settings > Lock Screen you can change it so the Time shows up there. Just go into it and find it, i think it is under Clock Alignment or something like that.

Pretty sure in your keyboard settings you can turn on Auto Correct, if not try downloading a custom keyboard from the market, might i recommend SwiftKey if you like thumb typing.

Hope this helps :)

Hey,

Thanks, I downloaded SwiftKey.

Thank you for replying. Here's the situation:

1. EE sent me out a new phone as they thought that was the problem (we tried the MicroSIM in another phone and it seemed to work normal but I think now this was just a coincidence as it seems to go through phases where it works and doesn't work).
2. New phone came and still the same problem mostly but the rest of the phone is amazing and I am so attached to it (haha).
3. New SIM coming either tomorrow or the day after but scared this won't fix the problem.
4. Had my friend try her SIM in a different phone and the problem persisted.
6. She receives my texts on time, her iPhone tells her the message has sent but my phone does not always receive on time regardless of signal. Like me, she does not have this problem with any other contacts, just me. And as far as I know, I do not have this problem with anyone else, just her.

Any other ideas? Could it just be the SIM? We decided that if the SIM doesn't work, she would get a replacement SIM as well to see if that fixed it. Got EE ringing me back Saturday to see how it is going. Just seems like such a weird problem that no one has the answer too?

Any other thoughts/ideas? Much appreciated :)

Is your previous phone before the Note II an iPhone? If so you will be getting delayed SMS/MMS from everyone who tried to send SMS/MMS to you from their iPhones for a little while. It happens to many people I know who switched from iPhone to Android including me. It is a price you paid for betraying Apple I was told. :p

Well if your old phone is really an iPhone, the reason for the delay is that Apple associates your phone number with an iDevice. So when your friends trying to send you SMS/MMS, it will first attempt to deliver them as iMessages. Only when that fails, it will try to resend them as normal SMS/MMS. It will sort out eventually, but it will take a little while. And then after that.. another problem will surface. Your iPhone friends and family members will realize that sending SMS/MMS to you cost them money or eat into their non-unlimited SMS monthly quota. So eventually they will stop sending you messages..... LOL :p

Haha. Yeah, I heard about this. But unfortunately my previous phone was the HTC Sensation so this wouldn't apply. Sad times :( New SIM hasn't arrived yet either.

New phone, new SIM, same problem.

My friend who I'm having the problem with is ringing her network (Network Three) to order a new SIM as well.

Anyone, seriously? Any idea what this problem might be? It's so weird?

I'm not the only one, on a separate forum, there was another person having exactly the same problem as me, and likewise, messages from an iPhone were coming in delayed and he did not have an iPhone previously.
