text messaging times

When my phone is roaming, all the text messages come in from crazy time zones. Like, at 10am this morning I got a message from my wife that was time stamped 2:30pm, and now all the other messages I get show up below that one. It's a pain in the ass. Is there a fix for this?
 
Supposedly this is a network problem. I had a similar issue where all text messages received (and only received ones) were timestamped one hour in the future.

I installed Handcent and the problem went away (it must locally timestamp the messages or something), but the problem remained with ChompSMS.
