text msg notification

I have a problem with the notification for text message recieved. No matter which tune I pick, I get one notification "tone". It is not loud enough when my note is in holster, and doesn't repeat much. I have set the volume as high as it will go, but I can not find any controls for the number of times notification will occur. Am I missing something? Do I need a different text message app?

I can't speak for a rooted version, cuz I'm still on stock GB2.3.6
as for the sound, have you tried going directly to SOUND, then VOLUME, then raise the NOTIFICATION bar all the way to the right?

If you have already tried this, then I'm afraid I don't know any other way...
