Help Text Notifcation not clearing

Hi, I just got the razr m today and have been having a problem, well more of annoyance that I could live with if I can't fix it. It's just really annoying.

I recieved 2 texts the second the phone was activated at the store, and then a couple more later on. I noticed that on the screen on the icon it has the number "2". I have made sure under developer that don't keep activities in unchecked (or is it supposed to be checked? I tried having it checked, it worked, but when I would back out of an app, there would be a delay with the icons popping back up on the screen) I deleted all the text messages in there. I went to the setting- apps - all-text messaging and then clearing data. Nothing works. I also tried just restarting...nothing. did a soft reset and it worked but then a couple minutes later the "2" popped back up.

It looks kind of like this with the number above the messaging.
Anyone have any ideas?

LOL, no I copied the picture from another post I saw.

I have deleted all messages on my phone, and have even done a soft reset after as well.
 
lol well i use a app called go sms pro because i like to use a custom lady gaga theme XD
i have 2 qs so
1st when you recieve a txt does it show up as 2(or more) new messages?
if so try using go sms pro and see if you have the same issue.

If you cant get rid of it ask verizon abt it.
also do u know what the messages are?
 
I have this same issue and yet my brother's razr m has never had this happen. I clear data and then force stop the app. Reboot the phone and it still shows until I click on texts, when I close the app back to the home screen the 1 or 2 goes away and works properly for several days and thenm i need to do it again. Great phone so i will live with this minor irritation
 
I have read and deleted all the text messages. The messages only show up once there aren't multiples of the same things. Today I got a couple of texts from someone and after I read them, the "2" went away for a couple of hours and then came back, but there were no new messages. Tried resetting, deleting, etc.
 
This was happening to me with the stock messaging app right when I got the phone. I always put handcent on my phones anyways, and so far there have been no issues with it and not clearing. I disabled the stock messaging app.
