Help Text & notification tone acts up & quits

I've been having trouble with my text message tone for several days now. I wanted to use the same tone I had with my previous phone which is from zedge. For the first couple of weeks it worked fine.

Then I heard there was an app available to disable that stupid default ascending ring that the phone came with so I downloaded it. That is when the trouble seemed to start. Every since I changed the text tone the phone has always vibrated along with the message tone even though vibrate is not checked. That's a separate issue that others have complained about also.

Around the same time I downloaded the Battery Notifier app so I could get an audio tone along with the green light to let me know the battery has charged. I used the same tone I had for texts just for consistency. That worked fine.

The problem with the text tone is either I won't get anything but the vibrate, I get a quick incomplete tone & incomplete vibrate, or nothing at all. I've tried to change the tone back to one from the phones default list but it's still the same thing. I've uninstalled both the Disable Ascending Ring and the Battery Notifier apps so everything is back like it was but it still doesn't help. I've rebooted the phone but it doesn't help.

The whole text message notification system has seemed to go haywire. Any ideas?

Hey mate. Think it was me who recommended Disable Increasing Ring lol sorry. Just bumping this thread for u really :)
I remember a thread on Android Central's s3 forum about what sounds like the issue youre having but cant remember the title and this was when everyone was on ICS firmware

I spent about 45 minutes on the phone last night with Verizon support and they seem to think it's an issue with that Zedge tone I downloaded even though it worked fine for a couple of weeks and it seems to be an issue with only one of my contacts. The Verizon tech texted me and it worked fine and I also had my sister and two other people text me and it worked fine.

He said that if it continued to be a problem about the only way to "maybe" fix it would be to do a full reset of the phone. I told him I would rather that be a last ditch final solution kind of deal. Last night I did go into the profile for that contact and changed the notification tone to one of the standard tones that came with the phone. So far today I've got one vibrate only, one partial vibrate + partial tone, and the other three or four have been full tones but with a very light vibrate.

I also thought I might go into the Verizon store and try to find a similar tone like I had before and assign it to that contact profile to see how that works.
