Help Text notification

At work I have my phone on silent. If I get a phone call in this mode, the screen lights up with the caller and the see through bar at the bottom flashes. If I get a text message, the screen and bar remain dark. The only way I know I have got a text message is the blue light that flashes at the top left of the phone. Does anyone else have this too?

Wish i could help, i'm still waiting for Orange to activate my F'ing sim!
 
Thanks for all your replies. Even when not in silent mode, I just get the sound notification but nothing lights up. Shame, I like to see who has texted at a glance. Other than that, the phone is keeping me very busy with all its features!
 
Just noticed this thread... You may want to try 'Light Flow-Led Control' its on google play in both free and paid versions. I use the free version and its pretty good. You can set the led to flash different colours for certain events, e.g. texts or e-mail messages, but unfortunately it cannot make the transparent bar at the bottom of the phone flash!
 
text or email notifications dont light the screen for me. i just get the led light. blue for text and green for email. silent mode or not
 
Also, Go SMS Pro (free) has a notification option to turn on the screen. It is a very good messaging app.
 
Anyone else's phone not vibrate when you get a message? Annoys me a little.

Messaging app settings is set to vibrate.
Under sound settings its set to always vibrate.
