Help text notifications are random

I've had my Optimus Elite for a week now, and after the first day I noticed that text notification is random. Both audible and vibration.
I have tried everything the phone will let me do, with no effect.
And no I have not installed any apps or tones. I only use what came out of the box with the phone

Don't believe anyone else has had this issue before. The only thing I can suggest is trying a factory reset to see if it helps. If not I would defiantly return it to where you bought it for and exchange or contact Virgin Mobile to get it sorted out. Sounds like a screwy software issue.
