Text notifications.

Hi all Got my Desire 5 days ago, awesome piece of kit! Good job there's a busy forum here because this phone does so much I'd never find on my own.

So first post and first question.

Can i set individual txt message alerts to individual contacts, i.e. one notification sound for my boss and another for my lover ??

I can see how to set ringtones to individual contacts but not txt alerts. Maybe you need an app to do it

ChompSms or Handcent can do what you need.

Both free.

Chomp has Ads that you can disable with a donation towards the app.

Handcent has Ads in the settings part only.

Both Great apps.

This could be useful - but I've asked this on another thread and now can't find that thread!!! Is it possible to add text alerts (just one size fits all would do nicely) that are NOT the tinny built-in crappy noises ... I'd like to use some of my added music for this purpose ... I can change music ringtones but not text alerts.

In your Messages app press Menu.

Then go down to Notification Sound under the heading Received Messages.

This will allow you to change your default sms tone for everyone.
