Help Text problems ever gonna get fixed?

This thread might be a bit annoying, 'cause it's probably just more venting than anything else, but I have my first android phone (Evo 4g) and am getting tired of all the problems with sms. Texting is probably the most frequently used aspect of my phone. I've had the phone since Thanksgiving time, and within the first little while of having the phone it sent a text to a wrong person (luckily it wasn't that big of a deal), and has often opened the wrong text thread (I try to open one text message conversation and it opens one from a thread with a person that wasn't even visible from the selection screen.. Often-times repeatedly)... The most recent problem was: got an error message and then all my texts were gone, every conversation with every person... Matter of seconds. Now if that's possible, why in the world does it take ten minutes to delete one thread of 250 messages when you actually want it deleted? My rant is almost over.. The only other "smart phone" I've had was an old school palm treo.. How can something so old school have NO problems with text messaging and then something so "up to date" and "cutting edge" have so many? Will we ever be able to text without worry on an android phone or is this problem gonna last forever? Does anyone know? It's ridiculous.. Fire away
 
Are you using stock Android? Is your phone up to date in regard to firmware/profile? Also, you didn't download any other types of messaging apps then uninstall them did you? Before having Froyo I know a few of the problems you mentions I have seen happen on the phone at least twice but not since the update to Froyo.

Only way to resolve your issue is to uninstall all the apps on your phone. See if the problem still occurs. Then if that doesn't resolve the problem meaning it wasn't an app giving you the problem then factory reset your phone.
 
Yeah, I'm pretty sure everything is up to date... And everything is "stock"... I just use the standard msg app.. I'm not sure what froyo is... I get confused between the difference in roms and android version and all that stuff...
 
I was having issues with the stock SMS program opening in the wrong thread as well, fortunately although it showed it was sent to the wrong person they would actually go to the correct contact. Scary though...
Downloaded Handcent a couple months ago and it hasn't happened since.
 
text on this phone is awful if you have more than a couple thousand text. SLOWS the phone down a ton, sends text to wrong people, sends drafts of text when phone reboots, takes minutes to delete text (if it even works), randomly deletes every text (13,000 plus one time) in SECONDS (even though when I want them deleted it wont work).

Baffles me that something so simple can be so messed up.

Don't think any phone can handle "a couple thousand text." Don't know how long the threads are when you are trying to delete but I don't have the same problems you are complaining about. I have seen the phone bring up the wrong person every once and awhile but your problems are being caused by you. Not the device in my opinion. Never had my phone reboot and send a message to someone. And when you have too many text on your phone I assume it starts to delete text messages because the app has reached its maximum capacity. Duuuuh
 
Why would you want to keep a couple thousand texts on your phone. I delete all mine daily.
