Text "puzzle" Notification

Has anyone else noticed that if you receive a text while in the message thread and read it, then the phone goes into standby, when you click to take it out of standby, the puzzle piece shows you having a new, unread message but its actually the one you read while the thread was open?
 
Or if you are in viewing the message thread and receive a new message you still have the indicator at the top left that a new message has been received even though you are already looking at it
