Text to speech. HOW ?

Can anyone point me to a guide on how to get my wife Wildfire S to

a) Read SMS to her
b) read emails to her.

I have turned on TTS, Pico is installed, so what next.

I have tried googling, and all I get is a load of whizz kids playing around with voices. I've seen loads of apps where you can cut/paste text into a box for reading. But if my wife could see to cut and paste she wouldn't need TTS.

This is starting to be a big deal. If her phone can't read TTS, then it's no good getting an Android tablet ... and the Nexus 10 was looking good.

You may need to download one of those personal assistant apps. Or even some of the paid for car console apps have that feature. Check avics (I think I'm spelling it correctly) Once configured. Good luck b getting it to shut up. It will do all of what you mentioned than some. It is 20 bucks but worth the price of getting from a to b without incident. There are a few to choose from and any good one will have a free trial period

Think i used to use a simple app called "SpeakIt" or "Speak it" or something and it worked pretty well except that it thought kisses (X's) were roman numerals lol :)

You also will need the app called svox and some phones need speachsynthesis. it put something on your sd card and then you can use the speakit .

Ahh.. You do not NEED svox. SVOX is basically a different venu that doesn't sound as robotic as many of them do. SVOX gives you the "I'm at home feeling instead of the stock I'm at work feeling.

I would all also like to note. Many of us search for "read out, voice, speech browsing". And that's all fine and dandy butb expand your searches to hands free or "safe" driving and you g get a whole new set of options to play with

That is so true but you will have to have 7to 8 programs running in background and some will drain your battery much as posible but if you looking for the best one try a apk called speaktoit . This thing do it all . And all you do is ask it anything you want . This speak to it will answer it all .if you ask me kind of a pain in the azz you will be saying SHUT THE HELL UP. hey thats just me

rfo-basic has all the tools you might need for receiving your sms, receiving your emails and text-to-voice.

Not exactly an off-the shelf solution. Just needs some programming effort if you are up for the challenge. But it is good old Basic programming language so it is not too difficult.
