When I first set up my Desire, and used Navigation, the phone asked me to download text to speech data.
Today I had to perform a hard reset, and text to speech is no longer working. When I try to navigate, the Maps app seems to assume text to speech is there, and when I go to Settings > Text-to-speech the 'Install Voice Data' option is greyed out. But there's no speech! Pressing 'Listen to an example' does nothing.
Does anybody have any suggestions I can try?
EDIT: Using Astro file manager I can see two files in my /system/apps folder called TtsService, one an app and one a data file. But I can't delete, move or modify these because of permissions. Hmm
