Texting Apps and the LED Light

Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any free texting apps that use the LED light to notify you of text messages. I've been using TextPlus and it works ok, but I often miss texts because the push notifications don't always work and it doesn't seem to use the LED light for text messages even though it will use the LED light to tell you that you have a missed call.

Thanks for the welcome! Perhaps I should have elaborated more, I was wondering about apps like TextPlus that give you a phone number to use via the internet. It is my understanding that Handcent uses your regular number through the cellular network, but I appreciate the suggestion!
 
As far as I know the led only works with stock apps and gmail. I've tried third party apps tweaks, but nothing gets it to work on anything but stock apps. It's pretty frustrating
 
Ah that is very disappointing, I thought since the blue LED lit up when I have missing calls to my TextPlus number that third party apps could use it, I guess that might not be the case.
