Help Texting Issue -Cricket

Brittaney

Newbie
I have had the Cricket Huawei Ascend for about two months now and people keep telling me they sent me texts but I dont receive anything.

Sometimes when Im having conversations I dont receive a text back from them, at first I thought Oh maybe they fell asleep or phone died but when I talk to them they ask why I didnt reply and when I tell them I didnt get a reply they say they sent it and yeahh it happens at least once a day now.

It is very annoying and I already talked to Cricket about it and they said its probably just bad service and blahblah but my brother and uncle have Cricket and they dont have problems like this...&my bro lives with me!!!!

Im very annoyed and wondering if anyone else has any problems like this & can help meee!Maybe a suggestion for a texting app? Pleaseeee&Thank you(:

Welcom to the jungle,Brittaney!I've heard various complaints of text & email.Try the Market app HANDCENT,I believe its a text replacement app.But first, look around the various forums on this site, there is a LOT of good info from this community. If you find something that might help but still are a little 'lost',just talk to one of us in the chat section or send a private message.I myself am not one of the pros here, but feel free to ask any of us for help, even the 'experts' do so from time to time.Once, again, welcome to the jungle.

Yeahh I tried handcent and it made my phone go ten billion times slower so I uninstalled. But thanx(:

One thing that seems to help everything run a little smoother & more responsive is clearing the cache from each app periodically. There is a lot of speculation that an update to Android 2.2 is arriving soon & should alleviate your text problems, among other things. If you're not ready
to root & overclock, then waiting for 2.2 may be your best bet.

In the process of rooting as we speak. :)
COOL! NY11725 Is the one who helped me out,(just ask him about it,you'll get a laugh out of it). You're in good hands,if I can do it,anyone can.Good luck,I'll talk to you later.
He'll probably suggest a few apps to enhance your phone once you are rooted, overclocked, etc.Take his advice, you'll be glad you did.

Britaney there is a simpler process to rooting. All it takes is downloading z4root and pressing a button and youre good to go. Reply if you want more info

Yeahh, i did the step by step rooting by jazziette.
But i am kinda confused about some things.
Like the whole CPU thing. What exactly most it for and are there any free apps for it?

SetCPU is app that will only work once you are rooted. It will allow you to overclock or under clock your phone thus making it faster, but there are risks when over or under clocking the CPU of your phone.

I have not used SetCPU yet myself so I do not know much about it, I only know what it does. I do recommend Titanium Backup as I believe Jazziette mentions in her step by step tutorial. I will also recommend Juice Defender which will increase your battery life. I also recommend launcerpro which changes the UI of your phone which also gives you a slight decrease in phone lag while navigating.

So do you not need to change the CPU speed?
I have Titanium Backup&Launcher Pro.
I had Juice Defender but I didnt know what to do with it so i uninstalled LOL
Still new at this xD

You do not need Juice Defender or SetCPU to have root. You can use overclock widget for free

Changing the CPU speed is totally up to you, its a preference thing. As far as Juice Defender, it basically turns off your 1x / 3G / 4G while the phone sleeps, and then turns it on every so often ( what ever you set it to ) to check for emails and stuff, and then turns it back off. Neat little app

Just don't overclock too much, or underclock too much, could damage the CPU

The rooting programs have limits to how much you can overclock. They have different configurations for specific phones, so theoretically, its impossible to overclock too much, so no need to worry Britaney. I have underclocked my Ascend all they way and no problems.

What low end setting setting do you use? Thanks for your info,I wasn't aware a "too low" setting was harmful/undesired.{I'm trying to think of a mechanical analogy to equate to this,I am severly lacking in the computer basics (software, programming, etc.) department}!

If you slow it down too much, phone will just be very very very slow, or not respond at all and freeze
