Is there a app that notifies you that looks like the Iphone pop up screen when you receieve a text message...Such as the screen turning on and displaying the name? I couldnt find it through Handcent. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I use SMS Popup. It gives you a popup with the name and picture. If you long press on the pop up you can reply.

It also allows you to have custom notification setting for certain contacts. Or even turn off all notifications for a contact. That way if your mistress contacts you when your wife is around you can have it do nothing. ;)

SMS Popup is the best if you dont want the hassle of Handcent. Handcent is great and all but I just find it way too much for me. The stock SMS app + SMS Popup = Perfection.

It's on the popup screen. But you can also set up Vlingo Voice in car mode and it will automatically read all your texts. And compose them too. It does that regardless of what text app you use.

how do you set Handcent to read your txt messages? I can't seem to find the setting.

On your notification window that pops up hit the thing that looks like a speaker it will read to you.. it's not great.. but with a headset it's decent enough to understand

You can also press and hold a message and slect speak text.

Is there anyway through Handcent to just have the name of the sender pop up and not the message too, also how can you just click the name then without having to unlock the phone everytime?

It's all through the Handcent settings. I had Handcent and it popped up with the person's name and text. Click on Handcent then press the menu button to go to the settings.

The first part is easy: check "Privacy mode" in the Popup Settings.

But I don't think there's a way to get Handcent to bypass your phone's unlock mechanism; that'd be a huge security issue if apps could do that, don't you think?
