i use metro pcs and they gave me a used number, ok so now im getting texts from friends of previous number user or from person saying that this is his/her number how can i block from strangers or can i?

and no i dont want change my number way to many people, places now know that this is my number

If you use handcent you can long press on a person and add them to a blacklist. That's about all I can think of atm.

Just give it a few months. I've had metro for about a year now and it took every bit of 6 or 8 months to get random numbers to stop calling me.

I've been on metro for about a year and keep getting a call for some old ladies doctors appointments lpl. But if your rooted they have a number blocker for texts/calls.

You should root it's really beneficial and there are threads all over this forum to help you recover from almost anything that could go wrong while rooting. Just don't forget to add a recovery, do a backup and you're good.

FAQ letter j shows how to blacklist.

Ive been with Metro for about 2 years (before they had android phones)
And you wont be able to have anyone blocked by them. The best thing to do is either wait or call 611 to get a number change.

It's happened to me before, just give it a month or so.

People are strange, when you're a stranger...

You can use Call Control -- search in the Market for it -- and just block anyone who isn't in your contacts or white list from calling you. This works for texts and calls. Block private numbers too. You can send them to your voicemail so that you can get a message -- in case it's important.

Mr. Number works really good for calls, haven't tried with texts though, since Go SMS has the blacklist feature, but I know Mr. Number can black texts as well. I like Mr. Number for calls because it picks up and hangs up on them so it doesnt go to voicemail and you can hide it from your call history. Out of sight out of mind :)
