Root tgz file

I have spare parts in there there is an opton to install some HTC option (camera and a game)
I would like to try them and they didn't seem to install.
While looking to take something off my sd card with root explorer I found them on the SD card as a "tgz" file.
What is this and from here how do I install them onto the phone?
Please keep the explanation as simple as possible.
Thank you in advance for your help.

tgz is a common form of file compression for unix Operating Systems (Android). Just like zip and rar and common forms of file compression for Windows machines. If the tgz file contains an installable program for your phone, you may need to extract it using widely available programs such as Astro or, my favorite, EStrongs.
