Root Thanks for help with rooting

Just want to thank those who helped

Rooted with Revolutionary, mikg 2.56. Ready for more now that I have rom manager and titanium backup. Titanium backup was the piece of the puzzle I missed. I only lost a few notes and saved game data. Other apps apparently re-integrated with what was stored on sd card and stuff like task and calander is still available.

Next I guess ill try a theme and work towards battery drain tips.

Thanks again

congrats on rooting, but one thing i would like to suggest. do not use rom manager. it tends to be buggy and causes more issues then it is worth. get to learn to do everything in recovery. you never know when you can't boot up and all you have is your recovery.

also you might want to consider to switch recoveries as well. clockwork mod 3 and higher can't flash certain files. it only supports a script called edify while most files use amend. the recoveries that support both is amon 2.3, clockwork mod 2.6 and TRWP. i really like amon ra 2.3. it is a way better recovery and i have as of yet find any issues that was caused by amon ra. but that is up to you. in the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html there is a switching recoveries section that will show you how to do it.

congrats again on gaining your freedom of your phone.:D

I would suggest staying away from ROM manager. It is known to be pretty buggy and its much better to just manually wipe and flash things.

Edit: Awwww, you win this time Ocn...

Just make sure you read the rooting for dummies gingerbread guide when you flash a ROM to make sure you have the right directions.

For ROMS:

Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Data
(Some recomment wiping each 3x)
Flash the superwipe file
Flash your ROM

For Kernels:

Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
(again, some recomment up to 3x)
Flash kernel

And for a nanroid leave the first 3 boxes checked and also check the wimax box to backup your wimax keys.

Its also helpful to keep a copy of a nandroid on your computer or flash drive just in case anything happens to the phone backup
;)
