Root Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to eveyone on here. I spent all day reading and was able to successfully root my wife's driod and connect her ipad to it. I used barnacle. Its a lot slower than my home wifi but its faster than nothing when away from home. I did a speed test and on verizon I was get about .32 download and .48 upload. On my home network I'm getting 13.3 down and around 1 up. I used the one click root program from here [APP]SuperOneClick v1.5.5 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers
Worked great, I have three questions,
1. Is there a way to speed up the connection?
2. Has anyone donated to these people? I want to make sure my money actually goes to who deserves it.
3. Is there a way to reset the phone so if she ever has a problem with it verizon wont know I may have tampered with it?

try the "wireless tether" app in the market it's free

1. Maybe try what the last poster siad, but I doubt it would help.
2. No. For me all this is a hobby.
3. Yes. There are several "unrooting" guides out there, and at my site as well.

Congratulations. To try and answer your questions:

1. Your speeds are most like due to your location from the closest tower. At my house I get slower 3G speeds so I primariy use my wifi. When I am at work I am right across the street from a tower and can get close to 2 Mbps sometimes. So unless you can get Verizon to move a tower closer I don't know how to get your speeds up faster.

2. If you need to take your phone in to Verizon you need to revert back to stock or they will void your warranty. I don't know if the one click method you used will unroot you but if it doesn't you can download an app from the market called ROM Manager (it is worth buying them premium version) and it has the option to download and install a 2.2 unroot stock ROM so you could take your phone into a Verizon store. Also teddyearp has so decent guides to follow as he posted. ***(If you do this always make a back of your current ROM before flashing anything)***

3. As for the free wireless tether app I don't belive it works with the stock kernel. Barnacle works fine and if you should flash a custom ROM then you could use the other app though I don't find it any faster than Barnacle.

Hope this helps and enjoy being rooted.
