Root That was STRANGE

I had a singularly unique experience yesterday. (Context and context.)

This is the launcher I use mostly because it's super light-weight. I've used it exclusively ever since ICS, after having experimented with a bunch of other launchers.

I haven't yet re-installed all of the apps that I intend to. Mostly a handful of games. I'm making liberal use of Link2SD (taking care to NOT link anything essential, and certainly not any system apps -- the most I've done is frozen Mobile ID); have not re-installed Greenify just yet (not sure I absolutely need it). I've got space to spare and I don't think I'm taxing my RAM.

My phone was being unusually sluggish -- more than I'd seen it be even before I did the factory reset. So I restarted it. When it came back up again, my home screen was blank except for my wallpaper. Not even my clock widget. Not even a "Loading..." in the place where a widget would be. And yes, I gave it several minutes.

I restarted it yet again and it seemed to behave after that, but I have never experienced anything like that before.

Just thought I'd share the story.
