Probably more rumors as usual. Last rumored 2.1 date for one of the Android phones was Jan 22nd and it was false. Dont know why people seem to pick the 22nd in their update fantasies.

Yeah you can download the source - but it's not like it's something you can just install on your phone and expect it to work. If you have a lot of time on your hands and nothing better to do then try to hack your own custom device drivers on hardware you have no information on please go for it - we could all use something like that.
I spent a bunch of time on the phone with the sprint people before leaving my iphone and coming to the hero and the gal said it would be within a month and that was a week ago.
She also told me they weren't coming out with anything better than the hero for a few months at least so it won't be like the iphone with a new one getting released 60 days after I bought the 2g. Some things I like about the hero, a few things I don't in comparison to the iphone. I'm just getting started using the hero though, but for 700 bucks a year cheaper plan I'll take it.

A salesperson telling a potential customer everything they want to hear?! GTFO! Did she also tell you she really loved the sound of your voice and wanted your number? Just for drinks of course, nothing more.
LOL A valid point, but she also answered many questions that were negatives toward the sprint, such as simultaneous voice/data, the price directly from them, mail in rebate, and that they had ended the referral bonus my girlfriend would have gotten had I switched last month. And that they wouldn't match best buy's price for the phone, or offer anything to offset the 140 bucks I'm spending to say goodbye to ATT.

It is well known that we are going to rollout 2.1 for the Moment, so that's not a new revelation. To me the intent of the article is to predict the impending release and I felt I should set the expectation. Many folks have expressed they are confused and they get conflicting information or no information/silence and they have been given promises that go unfulfilled. Just look at the comments following that article from folks who are certainly going to be disappointed even if it has been tagged as unofficial.
Yes, the target date is still 1H2010 and while I don't intend to address all future posts containing future date predictions, I feel it is necessary to disclaim the end of February rumored date. Customers who read that article should not hope that the 2.1 software will be available so please don't call the stores, please don't call Customer Care, please don't call Samsung taking a chance on the software.
Instead, monitor the situation here. This is your best source for data, I promised I would return from time to time with some updates and anyone who believes that know that if the software was that close to launching, I would have posted about it (basically means I am "coming back with an update as we get closer"). So I'm sorry I had to be so strong with my characterization of that article but with the high expectations for this update and I wanted to make sure this didn't go anywhere. And if you'd read a little farther down, you'd see that he's hoping to release the Moment update to be installed at home.:
"Maybe the anonymous source is thinking the customer download software tool availability, which I'm hoping to have that out next week. It will allow your to upgrade your Momemt to CL14 at home instead of going to the store. Late next week.
Also I have no plans to release version 2.1 for the Moment without this tool. OTA or not? Hasn't be finalised but not likely."
Re-reading that, I just notice him saying "I" instead of "we". Wonder if he is the main guy in charge with updating the phones or what. If so, he needs to get off the internet and get his ass back to work!

Last year I heard 2.1 was going to be the first of this year. Then at the first of this year I heard it would be by or in march now they are saying first half of 2010. WTF. We will be lucky to get a buggy as hell 2.1 by the end of summer or middle of fall. By then the droid will be on 3.0 and our 2.1 will still not be able to function with the good apps. Sprint is always second rate on everything except price. Always. Prove me wrong sprint. Get off your azz and come out with something buggy. No matter when it comes out it will have bugs so just get on with it already.

Ever since they announced 2.1 they said it would be 1H 2010. They never said anyhing about first of the year or March, those were all just rumors.
