Help The appliaction TetheringManager has stopped

Unexpectedly. Please try again.

This is DRIVING me CRAZY. I cannot uninstall/reinstall this, as it's apparently a stock thing. This has only been happening since I updated to Gingerbread last week. Now I'm having to take the battery out/restart my phone at LEAST four times a day, and that's unacceptable.

Can someone PLEASE help me?

Also, just by the way---I NEVER been able to move files from my phone to my computer. The ONLY way I can get any USB cord to work on my phone to update is if I set it to ''Kies/Firmware'' automatically, instead of ask. But that's the only thing I can do---I cannot transfer files back and forth from phone to computer. I've used several USBs to try. None of them work. I've had this phone for almost a year and a half, and this function has never worked.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give. :)

A factory reset will fix this and you won't lose 2.3. Doing a factory reset has resolved this problem for other forum members and myself.

Ugh. Thanks :( I won't do this unless something else happens to my phone. Otherwise, I'll lose all data in games, have to restart other things from scratch (re-download apps, etc) The last time I did a FDR it took me a couple of weeks to get my phone back to normal. Guess I'll just deal with this issue until something else happens--or until April when I'm upgrading.

Just makes me mad---I've had issues with this phone since I got it. This issue right now shouldn't be happening---but because it is I have to do a FDR and lose all data/games/notes etc. Remember, I can't backup things to my computer, because that's never worked either.

There is another long thread on this subject in this forum. It indicates that you get the problem if you exit any way except by tapping the Home button after updating. It is claimed that running Kies, connecting the phone, letting it search for an update, which it won't find, then exiting via the Home button solves the problem. I solved it by rooting the phone and deleting the tethering manager, which I don't use anyway.

So hitting the home button after everything I use will solve it?

I wish I was brave enough to root my phone. I was brave enough to do a reboot, and do a update on it three times now, looks like I'd be brave enough to root---it can't be much more difficult, and I'm not tech challenged.

Ugh. Now this is weird. I just saw your response about doing the update thingy through Kies. When I updated (at work) I used Kies (not Mini) I have Kies on my computer at home. But it's telling me my phone doesn't support this version, so I need Mini. Great. Not that I can't get it, but still. Weird that I used Kies to get Gingerbread, and now I can't use it to do other things now that I have it.
