The best camera in the world...

Oh heck, I want you all to get some idea of the mountains.

OK, I'm done lol. :)

C'mon now. There's really an oil refinery behind the stadium and those mountains are just a mural the city put up to hide it. Nothing can be that beautiful. ;)

The range to the left, maybe 10 miles away in that picture, maybe less, is called the Sandias - Spanish for watermelon.

The city-facing side is practically a sheer face, basically 5000 feet tall. Quite often at sunset, on just the right days and just the right time, that entire face lights up exactly the color of watermelon. A lot of people who have never been think pictures of it are shopped - and they're not.

I'll see about getting you some. :)

At The Original Pancake House, brunch yesterday with my daughter. I ate maybe... 1/4 of this, it was way too big for one person, although it was really yummy!

**You can see her waffle in the background - she ordered a Pecan waffle, which she said was also delicious.

This reminded me of Alpenglow in the Rockies. When I lived in Colorado in the winter, the sunset would cast a red tint to the snow on the mountains. Sometimes they would look like they were on fire it was so intense. I don't have any photos to share, just my memories.

Here's an image I found to give an idea:

Sorry, thread derailment....bad MOD, bad!! :p

My other shot from the same shoot... :-) LOVE this camera.

EDIT: Captured that on my PadFone X during a graduation shoot.

Watched this bumble bee holding a honey bee while crashing it into the handle of my boy's push-trike over and over like he was beating it to death. Finally he landed and I took a shot with my S4 (Camera JB+). This is cropped from an auto-enhanced version G+ made.

EDIT: My wife informs me that is likely a wasp, not a honey bee. Now I think that bumble bee is just plain awesome.

And now for a PSA:

While I abhor the current trend to overuse the words "amazing" and "awesome", this picture is both amazing and awesome!

I'd agree with your wife ... it's a yellowjacket. They are nasty S.O.B.'s

Bumblebee's are our friends ;)

Hopefully it's more quiet in six weeks.

I don't go by the White House often, but it is still tourist season (and a pretty nice day out) so it's gonna be crowded. Also, there's always demonstrations going on and if there isn't, there's still always the anti-nuke people out there.

I just picked twelve of these silkysoft fellows from a tiny tree in our garden. Any fine ideas what to do with them?

Kinda cheating, but I liked this one.

We took a trip to one of my favourites places yesterday, The Falls of Foyers, just outside Inverness. An unexpected downpour stopped us from doing much, but I still managed to get a couple of decent shots in.

Normally when Google "auto awesomes" my photos, they do a pretty good job of ballsing them up, but I happen to like that one.

Took my old but faithful S3 out to a tractor pulling/farmer's market/fair event today.
