The best links about the EVO

Sup guys I'm working on getting all the best links about the EVO, (also working on the same thing for the droid x) on a symbaloo webmix. I have a decent amount of links so far but I was hoping I could get some help/input on what links I should add to it. I'm hoping that when its complete itll be a great resource for noobs and experts alike to gain knowledge about the EVO and if they want to buy it or just learn more about it

heres the link

HTC EVO 4g - Symbaloo

PS: click "add this" after viewing it to get all the updates automatically

thx in advance!

I like it! It's a web matrix for the evo, sweet! How come xda's not on there?

HTC Supersonic: EVO 4G - xda-developers

you could aslo add the htc evo blog

HTC Evo 4G Blog – All about HTC Evo 4G!

and phandroid

Android Phone

appbrain

AppBrain - the best Android apps and games on the Android market

i dunno there's tons. i'll provide more if u want. thanks for this! I dig it!

Ok now we are getting somewhere lol..Thank you guys so much for all the suggestions. Here are a few of the changes I just made:

-Replaced the topix link
-added a how to root tutorial link
-added xda-developers forum

Earlymon, thank you so much for your input, I agree some of the links on the original webmix were not the best, and I will gladly replace any such as that topix one. For your idea on an overall android webmix, there actually is one on symbaloo already :) Its not that great and was made a while ago, but again changes can be made on that one as well. You are also correct in that it is basically a bookmarking site, but it has a social aspect to it and is also visually appealing...It's my main goal to just get a good resource on the EVO, X, and any number of other topics.

Here's the link to the android one, again it is very old and probably outdated to some degree.

Android - Symbaloo

Never came across Symbaloo before. Not really sure how useful it would be (for myself) as it all depends on the individual page creator's resource investigation. This particular page so far seems like it has a few useful links and could be a fair resource for whomever does frequent symbaloo, especially for someone who doesnt prior know what topics they want to explore on any particular subject.

Fact of the matter is that forums such as this are an extreme wealth of information, however must be searched if you want to avoid all the clutter.... Not everyone is into joining forums and spending countless hours perusing, and if you dont know what you want to search for then perhaps something like symbaloo would be helpful.

Most everything on the net regarding any cell phone is either a derivative re-hash of someone else's article or an aggregate of others' misquoted derivative works or both.

So far, your site is no different.

Kindly tell me how you're expecting to contribute to web ecosystem and helping experts and noobs alike when so far all you seem to be doing is repeating other's mistakes.

Here's one of your links now (and I discourage others from clicking this):

Search for "htc evo 4g"

Let's see - what great services does that provide?

  1. A click-through advertisement.
  2. A web search of over 38,000 hits for "HTC EVO 4G"
Top hitting sites like that push down any real information to be found in web searches, and tend to be completely useless.

They mess it up for everyone, and you're part of that game now.

Given that I'm a complete, absolute, and total EVO expert who has never once made any mistakes whatsoever and am the most highly-read poster on the subject of EVOs (it's true, every EVO owner and potential owners hangs on my every word), why not simply make your aggregator page a collection of links to my 600+ posts in this forum alone?

And, if more are required, I endorse any number of IOWA's some 4000 posts being relevant as well.

Now that the sarcasm has made its point (seriously, you don't need IOWA's posts there when you have mine) - best luck in your endeavor - please stop back when what you have so far matches the mission statement you've given us.

Linking the creation of that page to the clusterpuck that inernet searches are, along with being so poignant about it, is akin to ranting about anyones steak dinner contributing to greenhouse gases.

Sorry, but IMO that just reeks of a smack down for chits and giggles. I applaud the OP for being so gracious about it.

Great - and you got the fact that that link was the first thing I hit on his page, right?

That that was something HE put up?

That a search result for 38k hits on "EVO" just had to be there?

Right, k, fine.

Evidently, I don't find that sort of thing the least bit useful, but if you do - now you have a bookmark for it!

I think that those are steps in the right direction.

I would also suggest - just suggest, mind you - that before posting any gizmodo/engadget/techcrunch/whatever articles, that a quick search might reveal either who posted the info first, or what their actual source info was - and that your users might be better served with info as far up the foodchain as you can get. I think you'll find that that takes very little time.

I don't know if you would find this useful or not - but there really are some good threads in here telling people how to fix their headset issues and that advice has seemed to have positive impact for users with either headset problems or FM Radio reception problems.

Where were you planning on drawing the line for that?

And how about the discovery by our own mikeyandroid that the Evo hardware is not 16-bit color as advertised - that's apparently due to the fact that the Android 2.1 photo gallery software is limited - and that the Evo in fact sports a 24-bit display. That might seem like helpful information.

Or that the Fring/Skype combination, once allowing phone-to-desktop videochatting, is now no longer possible thanks to maneuvering on Skype's part?

Where are you drawing the line for the sort of info you find useful?

I'm really not criticizing - is that sort of info useful to you?

Nope, didnt get that. What I did get was that it was a link that is/was on the page, that you hit. It wasnt the first I hit (didnt hit it at all), as there were plenty of topics that attracted my attention before moving on. Granted there are more there today than there were yesterday, however still didnt hit that link.

Rick thank you so much for your input, Symbaloo is definitely meant as a tool to gather the best of the internet into one place, and its mainly for those who do not want to wade through thousands of results to get the best ones. The topix link, though just one link in the entire webmix, was replaced because it just led to more results instead of being a direct resource.

Earlymon, that is a tough line to draw indeed. I'm not entirely sure on where to draw it to be honest, I suppose it would only depend on the specific resource. The fring/skype issue is definitely one I think I will add to the webmix as it pertains to all EVOs and deals with a prominent feature of the phone. The headset issues may not be as large of an issue and in my opinion a link to a few support forums would suffice for that issue. Its definitely not easy to draw that line though, even though I agree it certainly exists. I'll just have to go on a case by case basis for that most likely

Thanks so much! Just added those two links :)

EDIT: That video, while very funny, is still in consideration to being put on the webmix lol
