liberation, please tell anything you have heard about the merge. there has been literally no info on this phone for months.

I played with one that the htc rep had with him last week and it seems really nice. I would call the EVO Shift for Verizon. As far as launch date....he didn't have one but he did say that the phone was an exclusive for Wireless Zone. Now, I don't know how true that is but that's what he said, so, don't quote on that.

Hopefully it's ok to ask this question here, but I was wondering if you know whether the Thunderbolt will have any kind of video out option like the EVO 4G, and why in the blazes they put a weaker battery on it? I was really interested in this phone when I saw a video made about it where a guy claimed it would be able to do voice/net simultaneously even over 3G!! But the more I investigate it, the less I am liking it. Main three reasons are:
1. Apprehension about new expensive 4G plans that won't benefit me for at least another YEAR where I live, but I'll likely have to pay for anyways.
2. Video out???
3. Battery life?????

Thanks in advance for all your great info! I look forward to hearing from you, even if it's by PM, and I also hope to see one of these phones in action soon.

I chatted with a Verizon online rep. last night and he said that it will indeed come out on 2/14 and the website will be updated with the launch date by next Tuesday. No information on pricing though it seems that the plans will be the same as they are today.

That would be excellent, as long as the person you talked to knew what they were talking about. Most times the reps don't really have a clue as to when a device will be launching but there are two dates floating around the blogs and this is one of them. I can't wait for this phone. Let's hope you're right.

No, it doesn't have an HDMI out on like the EVO. Not really an issue for me being that I've yet to use the one on my EVO. I can't comment on battery life because I only had the phone in my hands for an hour or so. The htc rep did say battery life should be improved compared to the EVO but.....hey, who knows.

Good Luck on the new business...question- Is the Thunderbolt a 1ghz processor or 1.2? I've heard conflicting reports on it. Also can be turned into a mobile hotspot?

It's an upgraded 1Ghz Snapdragon that is two times faster than the EVO and it has hotspot support as well.

No real reason for me to get one then. I was really hoping this would be an upgrade from the Fascinate. With no HDMI out, it's merely a sidestep, with a potential downgrade to 4G. (yes, I said downgrade - paying MORE for LESS GBs is a DOWNGRADE - unless pricing is comparable to current 3G pricing. Justify it however you want. That's what Verizon would like to you do anyways so you'll play a long with their get-rich-quick easy moneygrab.)

Hey Lib

Have you found out anything about the data plans yet? I think that seems to the be the last great mystery around here.

Ok, have fun then!

Don't misunderstand ... I still appreciate Liberation and thanks to him and everyone else pitching in to figure out this new phone. I am in appreciation of you all.

And certainly wish Liberation good luck with his new store! I'll keep checking back for pricing and plan pricing info, too.

damn the 14th sounds better than the 24th but.... my upgrade isnt until the 25th.. anyone know the easiest way for me to get that changed for sure?

so whats going to be the going price for this without a contract? I change phones so much I just need to buy it out right.

I say the Thunberbolt will not be sold until the 24 mostly because it will be two weeks into contract so the iPhone owners can't switch to the Thunderbolt. The 14 will most likely only be a preorder date.

well i think im gonna try and convince a rep over the phone for an early upgrade that way if its the 14th ill be good to go.

Call 611 and tell them you'd like to have your upgrade date changed to 2/3/11 so you can preorder an iphone. They'll do it for you no problem. That's what I did with a line that wasn't due until 2/28 although I don't think I'll be ordering the iphone:D

That is an amazing idea! lol Thank you!

Liberation, I will definitely be stopping by to check out the phone and 4G coverage in the area. Will you guys have the phone on release day?

As per my Friend who is a Beta Tester for VZW, the Phone has been scrapped for now because of very Big issues with the GPS Chip! As for being like the shift...Ehhh, it's alot Heavier then the shift, Build Quality is awesome...And it's running BING---YUCK, Big turn off! As for when, and if they'll ever release it...His answer? I have no idea bro, I just test em...lol
