THE browser to have....

Dolphin MINI.....not regular Dolphin....not Dolphin HD.....Dolphin Mini. It is what i have always used on my phone and I just got my TP and it works wonderfully....fastand with true iPad smooth scrolling. Give it a try. Now I have to figure out a decent keyboard....

Have you tried THUMB KEYBOARD? Very practical for tablets.

I tried both operas and neither would open flash....fail!

I could see myself going back to Opera when the flash issue is fixed. It is the smoothest, and it auto-reformats to a single column on zooming, which I really like. For now, I've settled on ICS+.

However, I noticed a flash update yesterday. Haven't tried Opera again since that update. Note to self...

Tried a bunch of browsers, and stopped at opera Mobile. Wow is this one nice, fast, smooth, and great features! I also just realized the stock Asus keyboard has swype capabilities!

So, you're saying that the stock Asus keyboard 'does' Swype???
I love Swype on my SGS and if it's on the Prime then that would be great! :)

Do you know if it's the same Swype that comes on Samsung devices like my SGS,...or is it something with similar capabilities? Does anyone know?....cause if it's the real deal then I would be very happy.

BTW,...I asked my Apple Fanboy friend if he has Swype on his iPhone 4.
He doesn't. :p

I've actually switched to ICS Browser +. I like it a lot so far. I was having browser lock up problems with Dolphin. No lock ups so far with ISCB+.

I just came on here to report the same. Dolphin is having issues. Actually, they all do but dolphin is the worst and ICS+ is better. There are still times when I select a live link and it does not do anything...especially on Facebook for many seconds and then it performs your selection in a delayed manner...sometimes minutes later. Heaven forbid if you were impatient and kept clicking because it will remember those clicks and take you back to that spot over and over and over. Anyway, this happens with ALL browsers. Does this sound familiar to ,any of you?

i actually prefer Boat Browser - less clutter.

i'm also using Thumb KB, and it's pretty nice. taking a little bit to get the hang of it, but i like it better than the standard kb layout.

I just installed Boat and all I have to say so far is WOW!

One question, how do you set the home page or is the opening page the way Boat works?

I've been using Miren Browser on my smartphone for a while now, having lost faith in the bloating Dolphin. I see now though that Miren has gone awol from the Market.

I'm use ICS Browser+ on my Prime currently, partly as a "browser reset" to see the state of stock but mostly because it syncs with my Chrome bookmarks (I wanted the + clone mostly for the ability to hard-set the user agent).

Do any other browsers auto-sync bookmarks with Chrome (without the need for ChromeMarks)?

Bring up settings, and one of the options is setting the homepage. Pick custom and put in whatever you want.

I agree on Boat though, definitely my favorite browser at the moment.

I just tried Boat and I have to say that I'm impressed at how fast it is loading pages. Dolphin feels like a slug by comparison.

My question still stands, as yet unanswered. Can anyone out there who's currently using a Prime answer my question....please? I thought we were all here to help one another.

We are, but I think you may be appealing to a rather small audience: you're looking for people who have a SGS and a Prime. Having said that, the Prime has both an Asus and the standard Android keyboard (in addition to all the ones in the Market). I use SwiftKey on both my phone and Prime, so I'm not a Swyper.

I don't have a Prime...still researching/contemplating. However, all versions of Swype are pretty much the same. It seems that the Prime's keyboard is not Swype, but has Swype-like functionality. AFAIK, Swype is not compatible with ICS yet, but once it is, you can just join the beta program and install it.

BTW, Swype got bought by Nuance (makers of Dragon voice recognition), so the latest version has Dragon voice recognition built in.

The swype mentioned is not the trade, asked version....it is the Android version.....they actually have a name for it although I don't remember it.

I like Skyfire quite a bit. Dolphin is good too. Puffin I have set up for Android forums since Tapatalk seems tobe messed up.

I'm a fan of the Thumb Keyboard, but I don't use the "thumb" layout. I prefer to have the full QWERTY keyboard laid out so I can type on it like a physical keyboard, or with one hand. The Thumb Keyboard is really nice because it allows you to adjust the size of the keys, and you also have long-press options for the more common punctuation marks and numbers.

+1. You can also customize your layout with different themes and create "shortcuts" along the top of the keyboard (like where the F1, F2, etc keys would be) with copy, paste, tab, numbers, etc. Its very customizeable and like Zebulon said, you can customize the actual size of the keys in landscape and portrait mode. Just an awesome keyboard.

The other keyboard I have been using lately for taking notes is Slide It. I don't know why I like it more that Swype. Don't ask me why but it just more smooth, fluid and has better prediction and seems more spot on.

Ok, thanks to all posters who responded to my question about 'Swype" being available on the Prime. I do like Swype on my SGS and it would be great to have it on the Prime and would be another reason for wanting to get one.
Sorry if I got a little too quick on my original posting asking if Swype was on the Prime, but I was pretty pumped to hear that news and didn't notice that @jstcynske actually wrote..."the stock Asus keyboard has swype capabilities".
I mentally jumped to the assumption that the Prime was actually running the original 'Swype'. I stand corrected.
It is good to hear that it does have the capabilities and that all Swype types are quite similar. I've also seen the 'Slide-it' keyboard app, but didn't download it due to what I thought were excessive permissions. The 'Thumb' and Boat apps sound good also. It's nice to have so many options to try when I get my Prime.

I've always liked Dolphin HD and the free add'ons like "screencut" where i can capture and save displayed web pages.

But is there still an issue going on with Dolphin collecting data or dolphin browsers of all versions are linked with Carrier IQ?

Really? I missed this one. What possible excuse could Dolphin have to build in Carrier IQ, especially since we use a tablet that has WiFI only? I'd like to know the answer to your question as well. Dolphin will likely leave my Prime when I get home from work tonight.
