The display...

Dull? It's brilliant. Perhaps your device is defective.

Your post is very general. Give us very specific feedback and perhaps we can help.

Otherwise, if it's not up to your display standards, there are plenty of phones out there...
 
Do you have a screen protector on it? I had an anti-glare on there and had to take it off just because the resolution looked so bland. Once I removed it, it was like night and day difference. The colors looks nice, text popped out and everything looked sharp.

Other than that, try adjusting the brightness.

A screen shot might help.
 
Sorry for providing very little info. I have brightness set all the way up. And by dull I mean that the colors do not pop out at me. It doesnt look so vivid. I remember my first model it might have looked a little better. I had to replace it since I bricked my phone. lol Im comparing it to the Samsung EPIC display which is probably not a good thing to do since Atrix is a qHD display and the EPIC is AMOLED display.

That's really odd and sounds like a bad unit, my wife has the HTC Inspire and it pops as you state, but we both agree my Atrix has better clarity. That said I have an OtterBox with the anti-glare screen that's useless and it nerfs the display colors a bit, otherwise out of the shell it's incredible. Bring it back, tell them who's the boss and get a new one :cool:.

I looked at a display unit at my ATT store today and the colors looked dull too. The one I'm using looks great though. Check out the screen shots I posted as well as some others.

I saw your screen shots. My unit doesn't look as bright. I bought my Atrix in April. I doubt they would let me get a newer one since I already returned one nit because I bricked it.

Damn. Well it does have a one year warranty. You can still file a warranty claim and get a replacement device but it might be refurb. But it might be worth taking the chance with a refurb if your current unit isn't working correctly.
 
I went from a Captivate to the Atrix, so I'm familiar with the display concerns. When I first fired up the Atrix the display seemed dull compared to Samsung's SAMOLED display. With time I've gotten used to it and have come to prefer what I feel is a more color-accurate display.

Pull up Google's search page on both devices and look at the quality of the white. On the Samsungs that I've seen it has a very brown tint, where on Motorola (both the Atrix and Xoom) the white is very white and very consistent across the display.

I think the real difference is that some colors are exaggerated on SAMOLED displays. While this gives the appearance that some colors 'pop' the result is also that colors are less accurate.
 
all the AMOLEDs are grossly over-saturated. THis makes them pop out on the showroom floor, but results in very unnatural color reproduction. While the screen on the atrix is far from perfect (hmmmm... IPS is so delicious) it's quite a bit more natural than AMOLED.
 
Respectively, I'm going to have to say that IPS displays aren't as nice as everyone gives them credit for. At their best they are vivid and have good color quality, but they're far from consistent.

I suspect part of this is the result of emulating brightness by being slightly washed out, but that's a different discussion.

When I was looking at various tablets I took the time to compare displays on the Xoom, Acer A500, and ipad 2. The IPS display on the ipad 2 had good quality in the center but the light level degraded on both sides and on the bottom for about an inch and a half. Very inconsistent. The center's vivid white quickly turned to brown as it approached the edge of the display.

By contrast the qHD displays that Motorola's rolling with lately, particularly on the Xoom and Atrix, while not quite as vivid, are very consistent. They maintain the same quality from edge to edge.
