The Evo V 3G Update that is available

I just performed this update with the hopes that it would solve this phone's inability to send/receive text messages reliably. Can anyone else report on what this update is supposed to resolve, and your experiences?

Thanks.

Does the update change the radio, pri, and PRL?

Can you give us that information from the about phone menu

I am on completely stock and can say that the Radio, PRI, or PRL does not change.

These are the versions after the update.
Kernel: 3.0.16-g4211684 htc-kernel@u18000-build-144 #1
Baseband version: 1.06.00.0426
Build number: 1.13.652.2_R2 CL372137 release-keys
PRI Version: 1.53_144
PRL Version: 61009

Don't know if any of that is different than stock..

First, I agree that you should be completely stock before you try to update. Then you just go to settings, system updates, and HTC software update. It should locate the update from there (at least it did when I went completely back to stock.) Interestingly, about an hour later I also got a notification saying a network-sprint update was available. I clicked on that but never got any confirmation that something had downloaded.

I haven't gotten any radio updates, and my radio information matches that. (I'm on rooted stock).
I have, however, gotten a different OTA update for the personalize app.
Call me ignorant, but how would having a different recovery effect OTAs? The recovery doesn't do anything until it's called to action, so why would it bootloop if you accepted an OTA with a non-stck recovery?
In any case, if there is an official update, I hope the devs can put it out for us non-100%-stock people :) Especially if it's for the radio.

I will go stock and see if there is one. I bet its just the app that called for updating. not a actually OTA

It fixed my GPS. My phone reported the nearby town but I am somewhat far from now it displays San Franscisco and not Oakland or Tiburon.
