when will be available the Nexus One update to Android 2.2 Froyo? Will be the OTA? Thanks - Android Help

Thanks for the responses!

Just wanted to give a heads up that the build floating around is not the official Froyo release. You will get an automatic notification when we OTA the build, no need to manually download it. You will still get the automatic notification if the official release is a newer version than the one you have, so don't sweat...but I'd highly recommend waiting for our official release :)

@Bhushan4181: You will get the OTA update as long as you are connected to the internet and can communicate with Google servers.

We are striving hard to OTA the build to you ASAP, thanks for your patience!

Uhhhh... Maybe some last minute fixed based on the comments and requests from the current "final" release? LOL!

Either way, looks like we're getting an update soon anyway! :D

I really appreciate you posting this. I was worried that since I manually updated to 2.2 with the unofficial version that I wouldn't get the official one when it came out. I figured the phone would check if it's on 2.2 and if it was then it wouldn't update again to the official version so I was worried :(
 
yeah this was released yesterday.... time will tell, we all knew it wasnt the real deal. but im happy to have it :)
 
Well, remember, everyone who is stock (or on stock recovery) with the "official" Froyo 2.2 update (FRF50) that was released last weekend will still get update OTA. Since the update should (and from the sounds of it WILL) check to make sure you are on 2.1update1 (ERE27) or 2.2 (FRF50) and allow you to update since it seems the real official Froyo 2.2 will be higher than FRF50. :D

So there will probably be 2 update files that will be available via OTA.

ERE27 to (official build number)
and
FRF50 to (official build number)

Let's hope they come out sometime soon... Honestly though, since I am on 2.2 (even though it is not final) I am MORE than happy with it and will wait for it to get pushed. :D

"If" - meaning it could be a newer version or it could be the same (=final) version.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Froyo?



P.S.: Using Modaco's prerooted Froyo and <3 it :D

Hell, I guess we're lucky the Verizon and Sprint Nexus Ones got cancelled or god only knows how many more builds we would be waiting for, or how many versions of Froyo would already be floating around besides the one.
 
Hahaha, Froyo was gonna end the fragmentation on the android platform and it's already fragmented itself before its release :D:D
 
Lol!! Froyo is just the start of the end of the fragmentation Issue. 2.3 gingerbread should hopefully end that. Anyways I just love being a test pig for Google :)
 
Google is so sneaky. They knew full well we'd snap up that build and tell them about every little bug. Why else leave a signed update file on a publicly accessible server? I'm really enjoying this current Froyo build though. I'm happy to run it until the final OTA provided it isn't too long. Though if they unlocked the market I'd wait much longer ;)

But who am I kidding? As soon as another signed build shows up on Google's servers, I'll probably manually install that one too.
