The Galaxy Fold Successor! Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

I have to say that I like the idea of a foldable phone, especially inasmuch as the phones have gotten so big. The only thing that is of concern is the durability and the pricing. I'd go for it.

I loved my old folding razor phone. I will admit that my new Note 10+ is simply huge though I love the screen. To get that sort of screen or even larger that could be folded for pocket storage would be stellar. I don't want to have to put a band-aid on the fold a month into using it however. It will be interesting to see how that's addressed with the Bloom. Samsung has surely addressed the problem.

Actually I hate the name. By and large I can ignore silly naming: I mean, my first Android phone was a HTC Desire, and I'd considered buying the Hero the year before and looked at the Legend that year, so it clearly takes more than a silly name to put me off. But "Bloom" just makes me cringe for some reason.

As for affordable, let's see. After all, if they price it at 1.5* the Note 10 series it will still look "affordable" when compared with the Fold, and if they stick an 800-series SoC in it they'll be able to claim better specs than the RAZR. So I may be being cynical, but that's what I'm expecting for "affordability": cheaper than the Fold but still clearly more expensive than the rest of the range.

But with the trend being for taller phones (the S20 series are all taller than the closest model in the earlier series) clamshell folding makes sense for a "more portable phone". And while that may sound less interesting than a "phone/tablet hybrid" (the Fold approach) I'd not be surprised if that's the larger market (I admit that the RAZR appeals to me even if it seems unjustifiable).
