Help The Gnex can send SMS to wrong recipients Too - BE CAREFUL!

Just had my stupid Smart phone send a text to the wrong person.

I know about this issue from the Thunderbolt thread so I have Handcent installed. I thought this was not supposed to happen with a third party app.

Texting with my son and when I send the 3rd text in the conversation with him, it sends it to my wife's phone instead and even changes the whole thread to her number. WTF!!!!

So I guess we were wrong believing it wouldn't happen with 3rd party SMS.

Might be an ICS compatibility issue.

I thought it had washed out as a carrier issue and not a device or app issue.

Many people reported this problem with the TBolt, though I never had it on the system app. I put Handcent on anyway and never did experience it.

Removed Handcent from the GNex and the thread label reverted back to my sons number so maybe it is Handcent not playing well with ICS?????

I've changed the title to reflect the OP's concern.

Meanwhile, we've seen that messaging concern in several device forums around here, and across more than one carrier. We've also seen various remedies that seem to work for some users but not others with the same device and carrier.

I think that points to an intermittent glitch in carrier handling of SMS, so when a user makes a change such as removing a 3rd party messaging app, etc, that change could falsely seem like a successful solution when in fact it just happened to be during a time when the issue was not present in the carrier's chain of SMS handling.

Just a thought; I have no proof.
