The gpu hasn't even been touched yet !?!

It says part of it has been opened up, not that it hasn't been touched yet. If it's anything like the camera, it must've been running a more generic driver up until now.

In what way will this benefit me, an avg-light power user.
As I see it you would need to download new drivers and install or wait for OTA update to actually see a diff.
And then what would that improve?

Basically, nothing more than games. Faster frame rates and things like that. It might improve video processing as well.

you might see smoother scrolling and better live wall paper.
 
its good to see our phone having more up its sleeve. Both with video capability and in terms of its powerhouse.
 
It helps developers make their software run more efficiently on the Inc (or other snapdragon devices) leading to more performance. It'd be a while before we see anything different from HTC for sense, but games will improve as long as developers make the effort.
