Accessories The Kickstand Case - What do you think?

I agree it adds a lot more bulk to the phone but maybe its a false sense of security but i feel my phone is 100% safe if this case, heck i have a hard time taking it off.

I can't figure out how to take this thing off. :o I love the sturdiness. I have a case on my LG Voyager with a similar material and drop it on carpet at least once a week, even took a 3-4 foot drop onto cement sidewalk recently. I think the kickstand itself is where all the weight comes from.

Best way that I've found to take it off is to pull at the kickstand which bends the side open enough to pop your fingertip in and pry open.

Kickstand on port side not so much of an issue ( as I thought it would be)
with a battery like this (mine last all day no matter how much I am on it, it seems)...

I decided to keep this case, so my phone would have a little fall protection...and maybe protect it..Its a little slick feeling though hence the cheap plastic feeling..I may hit it with some 180 grit sand paper :D

When 2.2 gets here you can rotate it either direction landscape wise.

As for the USB port and kickstand being on the same side I'd say it was desiged that way because we don't have 2.2 yet. Imagine if they put the USB port on the other side? Before 2.2 arrived the media docks would be useless because the screen would be upside down! Same for if they placed the kickstand so it opened opposite of the USB port.

yeah I said that in my next reply to jubba... I had forgot Dorid didnt do that since I been back on a bb for 45 days..:) will be very slick when it does...

After a couple days of using the case I've decided I like it. I even managed to figure out how to pull it apart pretty easily (just pull near the USB/HDMI ports on either side, it won't break. Once one clip is out the rest is easy).

Considering I'm finding the stand very useful (even with not being able to plug in while its on) I recommend it until a 3rd party comes out with a better case that has a stand.

That kickstand case is lame. I bought the holster/case combo, the VZW car charger and the really nice home dock. The dock has HDMI technology, widget capablity and it's beautiful. Then I built a small custom wooden felt lined case (open on the top) with a small drawer for cords. It holds the dock snugly and the whole kit now sits nicely at home or on the dashboard of my car. Since the dock has a mini-usb it plugs directly into the VZW car charger as well. Necessity is the mother of invention.

So you CAN't charge it with the kickstand out? That's pretty crappy indeed.

Oh well, I guess battery is solid enough, and that's kinda splitting hairs a bit, I can hold the freaking thing for 20-30min while charging, or just go and do a million different things that hover over my phone.(<<<hasn't recieved it yet lol, littel do I know eh?)

I purchased my Droid X with the leather kickstand case, and I gotta say that I really don't like it. I'll definitely be exchanging it for a different one.

It looks really big on the phone, but the bigger problem is that the kickstand is nearly impossible to snap off! I ended up having to use a flat-head screwdriver just to get the thing to pop out! I was almost ripping the case off the phone trying to get the thing to snap out of place.

In short: If you're thinking of getting the stand case, make sure to either try it out or have the ability to return it (verizon said they give 30 days) because it seems very flawed, IMHO. Anyone else have a similar/different experience?

As far as the phone: Fantastic!!

Yep, Have it on my wife's "X". I too could not get the kickstand out. Could not figure our which one came out. I decided not to break it so I left it alone. My wife had an otterbox on her BB. With that gone, I have this case on her new X. She doesn't care, just throwing it into her handbag. I care because I don't want the phone destroyed. Me, I want the EcoLife side case and I'll leave the phone with only a screen protector on it.

I also got the kickstand case... and... while I like the "feel" of it... it will NOT work for the purpose I had in mind. I thought it'd be alot cheaper than getting the multimedia dock... however... since the charger port is on the side... you cannot use the kickstand with the cable plugged in... bummer. Reckon I'll be taking mine back also.

The thing that cracks me up is that in the directions on the case box it actually says, "gently release the kickstand". HA! I've broken three fingernails- ya think a coin would work? I'm afraid to try a screwdriver...

I'm returning the Leather kickstand case along with HDMI charging station today for one main reason...the extended battery coming out next month. I can't justify the $75 on these two items when they become obsolete after the battery swap. The car dock should still work since I can remove the inner piece. Did like the case though...

Is there any kind of lining inside of this case? The Body Glove case has a felt like lining it in which is nice.

so i am starting to dislike the kickstand case more and more every day, at first the extra bulk but now i just have the random urge every day to take the phone out of the case

What would be nice is if some company came out with a replacement battery door with a kickstand built into it.

Yeah, I ended up replacing mine with one of the soft black cases. Easy to take off, doesn't add much bulk, and I got $5 back!

Isn't it sort of a good thing that it is hard to get off?

Some of these other cases I've been looking at seem like they will easily fall if you were to drop it from a foot or so off the floor. It looks to me like the most rugged X case available so far.
