The little things...(2.2 Update addons/changes)

Well I've got it ... Swype is still working but that might be because I'm using the one with the red skin. Have some playing around to do still ... haven't noticed a whole lot different yet.

So, Swype does work? Would you be able to forward the .apk file?

Thanks

I already posted this but never got an answer, maybe someone can help me here.

I have no idea, and i never used ATK. But i did read a few posts that says Froyo now manages the apps on its own a lot better.

For example, the bloatcrapware that is now running, it cannot be killed ... but it is apparently using very little, if any, resources.

My experience thus far has been ok, not a noticeable difference, but I have one of the phones that didn't have any problems previously- thus, I did not do a factory reset, but wondering now if I should because of one thing I have noticed:

My wifi speeds (which should be at "N" speed now, correct?) are actually slower than before. The web pages still load fast, but my speeds are all over the place (19 - 54 mbps) when before it was steady at 54 mbps.

Just as a point of reference, my boss has a Droid 2 and when we're standing right next to the router, he's got 65 mbps and I still might be at 19.

Anyone have any idea if my not doing a factory reset could be affecting my wireless speeds? Any clue where I might find if I even have Wireless N?

thanks

Are you using speedtest or something to actually measure Mbps? sounds as if you're just looking at the connection speed setting. I wouldn't go by that....you're unlikely to get 54 mbps downloading from the web (that's the wireless connection speed, not true download speed from webspeed). I typically get 16 Mbps on downloads (with speedtest) and 3.2 Mbps on uploads over the wifi connection. This is faster now with Froyo than with 2.1---moreso on the uploads.

Now, if the Dinc really has 11n, why doesn't it connect to my router at 300 Mbps like my laptops do?

You can turn the screen either way, both clockwise and counter-clockwise and the screen auto rotates.

Thanks for the response. However, this doesn't happen on my Dinc after the update. Any suggestions on how to turn this on? Is this supposed to happen on a homescreen?

Brower lag is caused by the flash content loading up. Go to the browser settings, scroll to the bottom. Choose "Enable plugins", and select "On demand". You can still load the flash content but you have to select the area (i.e. move, animation, game) before it will load. This helped me greatly.

Great advice!

Dolphin HD comes with this as the default; I was wondering why my flash content wouldn't show up unless I called upon it with a click!

Seems that Swype must be uninstalled/reinstalled for proper functionality after the 2.2 upgrade.

Yes, and you do not need to uninstall the Swype Installer, just the Swype (IME). Then run the Swype Installer, enter your beta username/password and let it download and install. That's all I needed to do.

I do not want my car radio to turn on when it's sitting in my driveway at night, I do not want my camera to snap a couple pictures while it's sitting in the case, I do not want shoe laces to tie when they're stored in my closet, I do not want the things in my fridge to re-arrange themselves how they see fit, I do not want my home phone to fly off the wall and land by my hand because it thinks I might want to make a call, regardless of using any battery life or not, I do not want Big Brother to decide what I want to run on my phone and when I want to run it.

Hey Verizon marketing weenies... having some app fire up on it's own on my phone will *NOT* get me to use it, it *WILL* tick me off and make sure I never do.

Call me old fashioned but I want things to run when *I* need them to run and not one second before. Is there some ****ing problem with that???

Anyone else notice you cant skip around on the progress bar for flash videos anymore with the stock browser? Kinda pointless for a handheld porn machine. Any way around this or another browser that I can try?

Good lord, charging the phone takes twice as long now. I hadn't noticed because I usually charge the phone while I sleep. I forgot to charge last night and I have it plugged in right now, and its just crawling.

My battery went to shit like crazy today ... but I think it's from the download, install, and reboots. Then me playing with everything, and then factory resetting. Then playing more with flash/gifs in browser and downloading all my apps again.

Multiple app downloading/installing doesn't bring the phone to a screeching halt anymore, either! THAT is fantastic!

I was hoping that with the froyo that or lock screen would change accordingly, but we are still stuck with the crappy slide down lock screen.. looks like I'm going to have to sick with lockbot.. lame!

I LOVE FROYO!

I know many have reportedly had issues with it already, but after 24 hours of using it, it really is amazing how much more responsive the phone is overall. I have no doubt that some of the issues others are having (i.e. music cutting out due to other applications) are likely going to be an issue for me as well, but for now at least, ignorance is bliss.. and FAST! :p

I would much rather be able to only watch some flash content with all the features than watch all flash with only play/pause, anyone know how to get around this problem?

well i thought we would get the "froyo" default lockscreen.. which is an angled slide bar with the option to set your phone to vibrate from it as well as the ability to have a lock screen wallpaper seperate from your homescreen wallpaper.

can you unlock the screen by pressing either the volume buttons or the optical button with widget locker? because that is the main reason i have lockbot because i cannot stand having to hit the actual unlock button on the top of the phone to unlock my piece.
