Root the next steps taken

here is where i am thus far:

z4 root...apex 1.4...bootstrap...autokiller....quickclock advanced....droid overclock.

following the directions of one of the posts...i used quickclock to do its business with overclocking and voltage. i used the profile i saved from quickclock and put it to work in the droid overclock. i did not do any customizing with the stats of the quickclock or the overclock. i just let quickclock do its thing and used what was shown in droid overclock.

question: is what i have done with quickclock and overclock the basics as far as what i need to do with my X pertaining to overclocking and voltage? just looking to save some battery. from what i gather, quickclock does what it needs by itself as far as figuring out the best settings for the X (or my particular X).

question: if yes to my 1st question, i want to do a "fresh" start of my X. needless to say, i am going to do a backup of what i have right now. from there i plan on going into bootstrap (which i am in already for the backup)...do a wipe data/factory reset....do a Dalvik cache wipe..do a battery stat clear (100% battery of course)...restore my saved file...and reboot. does this sound o.k. to do? should i also do the "wipe cache partition" too?

if everything sounds good to those in the know....do i have to redo the quickclock and overclock steps?

or...am i being anal and just leave well enough alone.

For a fresh start, you really should sbf also. Then re root and install you're rom off that base. If it were me though, I would just reflash apex (wiping the data and cache, not doing a wipe basically misses one of the big reasons of going for a clean slate), get it setup how you want it then run quick clock to find max speed, vsels, and profiles. Then use though settings in droid overclock which it sounds like you are already familiar with. Make sure you do make your nandroid backup. But I'd just reflash the apex file to give you a fresh start. Then you can do your wiping of the battery stats afterward. It definitely sounds like you have a pretty good baseline of knowledge on this all. Also, if you just flashed apex fairly recently, you could just wrote data and cache. Everything else might just be overkill if your rom is fresh.

when i got my refirb...i rooted and immediately did a back up before i added any apps except for bootstrap. it is saved on my sd card. it is as plain as day except for z4 root and bootstrap. i also have maderstock saved on on another sd card and my computer.

will flashing the the original rom that i did in the beginning sufice or should i do the maderstock route?

thats really up to you. a lot of people here recommend sbf'ing anytime your in doubt. but i haven't had a computer at my house for some time now (parts are on the way for my first build) so i have never sbf'ed and my phone runs great. so i'd say "why fix whats not broke?" If you reflash the rom and wipe data/ cache, and have no problems with it, then why bother? but it never hurts to sbf and start over fresh.
