Our VFW Post is highly active in the community - but I think my favorite thing we do is Operation Joy: a USO style music and comedy show for assisted living residents. The show changes each month, and we entertain residents with great songs that give them fond memories; and painfully bad jokes. I don't know who loves it more: them or us!
But doing things for people you know can't return the favor unlocks incredible blessings of joy and opportunity. It's a shame that more people don't volunteer in their community.
