Help The process com.htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again...wtf

Hi guys the easy solution to this if you want to keep face book sync running just go to settings>account & sync>background data and un tick the check box com.htc.bg the bg stands for background data apparently this also saves battery life but it means you have to update thing like the weather twitter and facebook manually
i have been getting that too on my mytouch slide. they did a hard master reset and im still getting that error message without facebook sync!!! this sucks and i want it to stop!
This is what fixed this error for me:
I went into Settings and then Accounts & Sync.
Then I turned off the sync for Facebook for HTC Sense and Twitter for HTC Sense. I have apps for FB and Twitter that I use anyway so no biggy for me.
The errors stopped and I have been error free for about three days now (was getting them about every hour or so, give or take an hour, before making this change).
Hope this helps someone else too.

I'm using HTC Desire HD (Froyo 2.2). Got phone a month ago and it worked like a dream. Today, I installed App2SD and moved several apps to my 8GB microSDHC card. None of the apps moved were original to the phone, I simply moved apps I'd downloaded via the Market. Only after doing this, I got the same message that everyone's been getting (above).
First noticed it when updated weather from the clock widget (or weather widget). Facebook sync working fine.
Tried the other solutionsdescribed here (and other sites), no success.
I'm thinking about formatting the micro sdhc card and then factory resetting the phone to redo everything from scratch (will hopefully solve the HTC Sense Dashboard issues that most still seem to have, as well) but wondered if anyone has a fix that now works?

For HTC Aria. I started getting this after updating my gmail password. I couldn't change the account password, but had to create another account with same id/new password. Then my goggle calendar entries went away and I got the process com.htc.bg stopped error everytime I tried to refresh.
Solution:
Went into the settings, manage all apps, select calendar storage and then click clear data.
Makes me think the facebook issues are related to syncing and memory storage also, except the odd Irish name issue?

I first tried contacting HTC and they said I had to delete my apps as they were causing it... not much help.
I went thru the steps outlined above and turning off the sync for Facebook for HTC Sense seems to have done the trick for me.

I have two Facebook references in my EVO 4G. The Facebook App and Facebook HTC Sense.
1. I Uninstalled everything that was Facebook related that could be uninstalled.
a. Friend Stream App
b. People App = unchecked both FB and FB HTC Sense
c. Settings -> Accounts & sync = Removed both FB and FB HTC Sense Acc
d. Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications = Clear Cache/ Data
c. Norton Mobile Utilities -> Facebook = uninstall [may not be necessary]
2. The Facebook App still appeared is the All Apps folder. I Logged In
3. I followed the previous post: People -> Global -> Facebook -> confirm sync to FB -> after several minutes -> YAY!
EVO 4G has been running months without the Facebook sync. Problem came after the Gingerbread update apparently. Thanks for the direction!

There is no globe in 'people' on the Eris model.
I tried deleting FB from the phone and HTC Sense from my FB account and reinstalling, but no joy.
No errant punctuation marks in my name or any of my contacts either.
No Twitter account, cleared the cache, sigh.
When I login to FB I see my contacts just fine...just can't sync to them.

I was having this problem after upgrading to android 2.3.5 on a wildfire s, but in my case the solutions found here , on the forums does not helped me.
I have not using the facebook on my phone, so that's excluded. ( or twitter)
Stopping the autosync,background data, restarting the phone, sign out of all accounts,clear the cache and clear data on htc apps, my calendar, contacts storage, market, gmail, facebook, ymail, ymessenger.
I have done this : factory reset to my phone with my sdcard inside (clearing the data on the card also ), still the error when i light my phone, turned off, leaving it without the sim card, sdcard, battery, all out. In the morning, i open phone without the sdcard inside, SUCCES, the error was gone, thinkin', miracle ! Then i put the sdcard inside, the data that i saved with the usb cable, putting my accounts back, apps, true, i have a lot of space, for now, on my phone memory, (the model is low on memory phone ), guess that i haved temp files all over the phone, not on my card. It's a **ithy error i wish you all not to 'get it'. I was thinkin' if that is possible that i haved catch a virus, doh !?

Im getting this ass-pain msg. I dont know what to do. Any help plz.
this happens to me every time i start my phone, when i press force close it trys to load my home screen then pops up again and again and again tryd restarting and stuff no good and because it cant load my home page i cant go into my settings or messages or do any thing PLEASE HELP
Which phone do you have?
Have you read through the messages in this thread and tried any of the techniques listed? If I can summarize what I read:
- many people have an issue with Facebook contact sync. If you remove that on your phone, does the force close go away?
- some people reported issues with Facebook contact sync if their Facebook name included an apostrophe, and removing the apostrophe solved the problem.
- some people had issues syncing directly from the phone to Microsoft Outlook. Are you trying to do that?
- one person reported an issue with the application "Spare Parts". Are you using that app?
