Sorry new to smart phones, so thanks in advance.

1. Some icons I have added to my home screen like flash light and amazon app store are still there but are a default icon, a droid. why? how do I get them back?

2. how do I stop too many apps from starting every time I start my phone. I have advanced app killer but it doesn't start some from starting. I like having nothing running unless I turn it on.

3. what does root mean and other terms? you dont have to write it out but a link to a thread where major terms are defined would be great.

4. some of my downloaded apps are just randomly disappearing as far as I can tell.

5. is there a 4g map anywhere?

6. is there a spell checker that will spell check FB and TXT messages?

7. home screen > apps> can I make folders here?

8. can I over clock with out rooting?

9. link to teathering instructions?

hello,

Let's see if we can get you on a good path. :)

I also ask that, to better serve you and the community at large, lets not ask multiple questions in one thread. this dilutes the focus of the thread and just causes too many conversations.

as for #1, you perhaps moved the applications to your SD card. when you reboot, this causes the shortcuts to get lost. known issue, see here: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/361453-icon-bug-apps2sd-solution-post-47-here.html

#2. short answer is you dont need to. there is a huge misunderstanding on how Android manages its OS and Memory. this is something that requires reading on your end to understand better: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/362038-memory-task-management.html

and

#3. read this thread on rooting: http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/12585-what-rooting.html

you can also search the internet for more info. rooting is akin to "jailbreaking" and Iphone, Ipod, Ipad, etc. It give the end user access to the "root" of the device. This allows one to alter many things on how the device behaves. again smoke over the starter link and the internet. there is also a root subforum on this main EVO 3D forum so have a look see there also.

#4. that should not be happening. need more info to help.

#5. Sprint - Nationwide Coverage

#6. https://market.android.com/search?q=spell+check+text&so=1&c=apps look see for spell checker apps

#7. MEnu>personalize>folder

#8. no

#9. http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/361354-hot-spot-tethering.html

as to #4 read up on the general issues thread: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d...aq-having-trouble-your-evo-3d-click-here.html

and here

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/360315-must-read-official-htc-evo-3d-forum-guide.html

I also ask that if you are brand new to Android you should look in the owners manual of the handset and also read the above topics i linked for you. All of this is avail via searching the forum also. :)

if you need any additional assistance, reach out to me directly and I will point you to a better direction.

Once you can giver more details about #4, you should post a new thread just explaining your specific issues. do this after you have searched and found no answer.

Thank you for understanding and again reach out to me or another mod if you need help. :)
