Can't say I have, but then I don't care much about what Microsoft says, other than to laugh at them for their lack of competence. Windows 8 is a flop. Their initial Xbox One announcement at E3 was driving people towards the PS4....
 
Thanksgiving is almost here. I ate a small dinner, and will have a very small breakfast. Need to save room for the good stuff. :D

It is a cold 39 degrees Fahrenheit, and is damp out from the rain we had all last night and into this morning.

It's trite that they are just not having competition. They are just to late in the tablet market. Android and ios so far rule. Now it's just a matter of apps.

Hi SF... think that's an old post of mine you replied to. "How's the Guinness Liam?" Anyone know what happened to Liam, last post he made was in September. I don't have the Ampe tablet any more, gave it away. I now use my KIRF Galaxy Note(no SIM) as my bedroom tablet. LOL.

Yeah I didn't realize it was an old old post. For some reason on the android forums app, when I open a thread on this specific tablet it goes straight to page 1 where as on every other tablet I own goes to the last page. Got used to just being on the last page. I should get tapatalk app.

Myself, I don't particularly care much for Chromebooks, not unless I were to install Ubuntu on one, make it more useful to me. I already have three laptops that have Chrome on them, don't really need one that just does Chrome and nothing else. Never heard of Pawn Stars. :p

Mike, ever made steamed buns. I like em a bit (we had some good ones in LA for dim sum brunch). Wife LOVES them. Had so many in Chinatown in NYC. :)

SFB, yeah, it's amazing how the internals of a smartphone can power a laptop pretty well. Plus being ARM and thus fanless, it never gets warm unlike my Windows laptop which can put a hurtin on your lap if you use it for a while. :o
 
BTW anyone seen my Google Drive?...it went AWOL about 2 weeks ago....was I Scroogled? :smokingsomb:

Possibly GFW. But it's same on VPN as well. Wonder if it's been geo-restricted, like the Play Store, Books, Music, etc. Maybe rights issues, RIAA, Hollywood, DMCA, etc. :rolleyes:

Out of curiosity I just looked at the Drive app on Google Play, "This item is not available in your country." ...so almost certain that's Google geo-restricting it rather than GFW govt. censoring. Good job I didn't actually use it for anything important.

Even if I use a VPN, to give myself an IP address in the United States, and effectively punches a hole through the GFW. There's still things like China Unicom or rather "Innermongoliaxilinguolemengzhong" that rather give the game away, as well as WiFi and/or cellular location, etc.

Does not bother me that much. The US, UK and Russia all probably have enough nukes on submarines to blow the whole world up several times over. The USA is China Inc.'s favourite trading partner, can't see them wanting to blow-up their best customer somehow...where would you get all your Androids, iPhones, iPads and Chromebooks made?
 
I think the PRC claims a lot of islands and things, like Taiwan since 1949.

Don't really wish to go too far down this avenue of discussion, because we're not in P&CA. ;)

The AF app is basically a dedicated and branded version of Tapatalk. They do some rather funky things occasionally, like throwing the odd post into a completely different thread. I'm using it now, so hopefully this post will end up in The Tablet Tavern, and not Politics or whatever. Another peculiarly of Tapa and the AF app, is seeing the occasional post from 1st January, 1970, the Unix epoch.
 
Good Morning everyone. Happy Thanksgiving to those of us that celebrate it. Though I think everyone should have something in their lives to be thankful for and celebrate anyway. Coffee is ready :)

It is 30 degrees Fahrenheit here in Florida this morning.
 
Over the river and through the woods ... there is a casino. I might get "lost" on the way to grandma's house. ;)
