The Tablet Tavern

I work harder at home than I do at work (most of the time ;) ). When I go home, relaxation is pretty much passing out in front of the TV after everyone else has fallen asleep.

Me too! The radio on, my own coffee blend and a cat on my lap certainly helps relaxing and focusing. And somehow people call less, although I am approachable via the same mobile number as in the office. Out of sight is out of mind, for some :)

I have come to the realization that my medical insurance provider's billing department is run by a bunch of flunkies. Looking over my billing history on their website, shows them crediting a payment made on the 27th of January, toward march's bill, jumping over February all together. The payment for March was just made on the 28th of February, and has cleared my bank already and does show up on my insurance provider, giving me a net balance of zero. It just bugs me that they apparently sat on the January payment, and applied it to the wrong month. The first payment which was for the January, was made in December. At least they processed that one timely.

They no longer accept credit card payments, (odd considering this is a major provider), and I use my banks bill pay service to pay it now....

Sounds like my Verizon billing. I ran Auto Pay for a few months and every time they double charged me. And I would still get a late notice.

That is why I NEVER pay a hospital or doctor bill on time. I always wait until the second billing cycle to pay it because they never get it right the first time.

I used to pay them right away and I'd continue to get bills for weeks. Then after a month or so, I'd get a check saying that they overbilled me.

I suppose it's because the insurance industry has made things so complicated, but I give no slack to the doctors.

Oh, a phone interview? That means you can do it in your underwear, unshaven and while you're eating a donut! (kinda like some of the face-to-face interviews I've done ;))

Yes, but do your socks match? I am told that for engineering and professorial positions, mismatched socks are a prerequisite.

I am dressed. To work in this industry requires a 10 panel drug test. If they ask when I can test I say, 'Now'.

For those wondering here is what's on a 10 panel:

Amphetamines (including Methamphetamine)
Barbiturates
Benzodiazepines
Buprenorphine
Cannabinoids (THC)
Cocaine
Methadone
Methaqualone
Opioids (Codeine, Morphine, Heroin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, etc.)
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Propoxyphene
Synthetic cannabinoids (K2, Spice)
Tricyclic antidepressants

This woman just flat out said she would be recommending me to the hiring manager and getting me into the local office for an interview.
