The unofficial "I reserved @ Radio Shack" Thread

I just received a message from HTC Source pretty much confirming Best Buy will have it on launch day. I'll trade in my old blackberry 9700 and use my 100 dollar gift card. Maybe I can get it for like 350 with all the discounts!

I just tweet them questions and they write back from time to time. No big deal, lol.

Also, are you using your google laptop to post? Or do you use that tapatalk app i hear about?

How long will you be able to pre-order? My upgrade isnt available until Sunday. And is the pre-order only available in stores?

im on the CR-48 ( google laptop for a few minutes as I just ate lunch at work)
but will be on my phone in a few have to go back to work

Just pre-ordered miine as well. They said I was the 2nd one to pre-order today but as word gets around probably more and more people will be pre-ordering them.

And yes you get the $30 bonus!! I cant even wait, gonna be awesome..

I'm planning to buy this phone at the unsubsidized price. Does anyone know if you still have the 30 day return policy when buying it at retail? Also, does RadioShack and Best Buy have the same return policy, or is it only at an AT&T store?

I plan on going today to do my preorder. I will be using an upgrade on another line so I hope that will not be a problem. If it is, I will just go to the att store on release day. I hope they have a decent case to use the extra gift card on.

Is the other line under your name or someone else's?

It is a family plan. All 5 lines are under my wife's name because she gets a discount through her work. I am an authorized user on the account. We have 2 lines that are due for an upgrade so I plan on using one of those. I used my upgrade for the samsung focus.

i would imagine you'll be fine. They have to do a check on your upgradability before they will let you do the reserve anyways. Worse case scenario, have your wife come in with you.

Yeah, I think I will be fine. I upgraded my line at best buy and all I needed was the last four #'s of the wife's ss# and be an authorized user on the account.

Not trying to be an ass - I honestly don't get this:

Several folks on this thread have mentioned buying w/out a contract for $450. Why? Do they switch phones every couple of months or something?

If it's just that you don't want to be stuck with a contract, wouldn't it make more sense to take a contract, pay $100, and pay the $325 cancellation fee if and when you need to get out? That's still cheaper than full retail.

I understand the desire to go with buying the phone without extending another long contract, but when you're right, you're right. It is cheaper, and maybe something to look at for those buying it outright.

Some people don't have upgrades so they buy outright

thats a good question,

here are some reasons why people are buying this phone (or the atrix) out of contact:

1 - they work for AT&T (me lol)
2 - they got screwed with the captivate (some people didnt, but a lot did)
3 - they are phone whores. (me lol) They buy new phones, have them for 6 months, sell them on craigslist, and use the money to buy the latest and greatest
