The way people talk to each other in here

That pretty much happened here. It wasn't just the banks that were doing it here, it was everyone right down to the person buying a 52" flat panel but not paying their water bill. I hadn't heard specifically about the Anglo Irish Bank because everyone over here is crying about ACORN, Fannie and Freddy to realize that this could possibly happen to others.

My heart goes out to all of the people in Ireland and everywhere else that this nonsense has run unchecked. If there were fewer safetly nets, things would not have been able to be kited this far. I am not sure about the demography in Ireland, but the US and Europe are getting older. On my end, our hope is immigration.

You guys have time and experience on your side. The only reason we aren't hurting as badly is because the Chinese and other countries see fit to loan us money. I wish they'd stop. We can't stand with everyone trying to help us walk. :(

That would depend on the 'thing', is it dumb that you can't turn left at a red light in the UK, like you can* in the US? Yes.

In America we drive on the RIGHT side of the road and we turn RIGHT at red lights. When I say RIGHT I mean CORRECT. d:

Indeed :(

Exactly. If the regulations had been enforced, or in some places hadnt been removed (a la US in the 80-90's) we would never have had this mess.
The property market was fueled by easy credit...
I've heard in the US people with no income were getting loans

Ireland is a special case
Most couples have 2-3 children here, although during the boom immigration plugged the gap in the labour market.
Unfortunately immigration usually depletes other countries of highly trained specialists.
It isnt uncommon to have highly educated doctors from Africa and Indian SC working as nurses here.

By experience do you mean my countries 80's depression?
Yup its the Chinese who lend us money to fund our epic over-consumerism

We buy too much, dont save enough
They save too much, dont buy enough
:(

Did you see the star!!!...
I'm pretty sure he was just joking, there would've been a smiley face sticking it's tongue out at the end of his post to indicate this... but the colon/eyes were on the right of the mouth. And when I say 'right', I mean incorrect. ;)

Good observation
That was one messed up tongue

I don't feel badly about depriving some of the places in central and South America of their specialists. If they were willing to clamp down on corruption and let their people improve their little corner of the world, they would stay. A lot of them don't come here because they like it here, they just like not being crapped on there.

I meant by having your way of life for much longer. In a way that promotes a little more stability while we spend a lot of time in internal conflict.... We've had our independence a little longer than you have (so to speak) but your society is much older than ours. We are in the middle of our evolution. China is at the beginning of becoming what it's going to be. It will be interesting to see what they are going to be like when they get a middle class.

That won't be in the near future, but it is likely to happen.

hmmm... thats quite true - but it often takes a long time for countries to recover after being in a corrupt regime - often supported by the US [in LatAm], e.g. Chile; how do you think that mine kept operating - a few bribes here and there I suspect.
Its true that most people will stay if theuy can get the job they want even if they can earn higher elsewhere - but sometimes I feel we are depriving countries of their futures :/

Thats true - our country also has a great kind of cohesion, which is nice.
I think it will be broken though by the savage cuts we have to implement, we now have to reduce our budget deficit by €15bn (supposed to be 7.5) in 4 years (its €50bn now, after we cut €14bn in the last two years).
I dont think there will be a future for me here - at least the UK is near.

It will be interesting to see what will happen for China, but as resources become scarcer due to their increasing demand (oil, water etc) I suspect it will become involved in many proxy wars (economically AND militarily)

The way I like to explain it:

Americans VS Canadians:

Americans care A LOT about their politics, but few pay attantion.

Canadians rarely care about our politics, but pay more attention.

and our Politicians know they are being watched that their own parties act as watch dogs because if person X screws us that part they belonged will pay for a long time to come.

interesting little fact based on research- Canadians do the most amount of research on the web before they buy a product/service.

Even Quebec knows when to stand back...lol

See, I disagree with that. I think the rest of the world wants some say in what America does and it really isn't their buisness. How would you like it if Americans started telling other countries they are dumb for some thing. Each country has their problem. How can anyone hope to solve the issues over seas if they can't even vote themselves honest politicians. Prime example is our president. The world loves him and America hates him.
Funny thing is that we do try to influence other counties. Be it through bribes or sanctions or military force. Why are we in Iraq? Because our government didnt like how Saddam ran things. What reason did we have to be in Vietnam? If you look at our past every time a country goes against the USA. We have retaliated in one way or another. How can we tell another country how they should run it when we cant even figure out how to run our own country right.

We honestly don't meddle as much as others would have you believe. For that matter I think ALOT of our meddling is appreciated. Look at Haiti....look how much money/supplies we sent them. In fact there are few examples where we did not defend human rights. I wish we were more isolationist ( I wish there was a big ol wall around the US ) then we are but we actually do have the means and the military. Who do you think the US turns to when they are in trouble?

You should know that I spent 14 years outside of the US, I know more about world politics then most Americans.

And by the way most places do not want our bases to leave.
yeah look at Haiti now they are riddled with disease. people are still homeless. so yeah I am sure they love us to be meddling in their country. They hear all these millions of dollars that was raised, but they have seen hardly nothing of the money raised.

Other countries turns to our military because that way our people die for their cause and not there own people.

You may know more about world politics but dont mean it makes you right. Just makes you look arrogant.

Reason why most countries dont want our bases out of their countries is they dont want that income to leave that our service men and women spend in their economy. Plus our gov pays to have them bases in those countries.

We need to stop being the worlds police, and let other counties run their own gov the way they want to. You would think we learned our lesson back in the 70's with Afghanistan. We helped them gain control. We trained them in how to fight. How did they repay us? 30 years later they attack us on 9/11

Vietnam we was over there for 10 years and nothing has changed.

Its sad when our gov would rather help other countries poor and hungry people. When we have people here that are hungry and poor. I guess it doesn't have the same impact on the news.

Arrogant huh?

I normally don't mind a few mistakes, but your spelling doesn't lend you much credibility.

You should make sure you don't have mistakes in your posts before making that statement. case in point "a lot" is two words and not one word. Thank you for proving my point. It just shows you have no rebuttal. All you can do is do the classical internet move of your spelling sucks.

So again thank you for showing your holier-than-thou attitude.

You should read some of the writer's web sites. Lots of speelink probblems. I try, but perhaps on an Android forum, we can assume there will be no sahortage of erors because our phones do not len themselvefs to tyoping replys that are error fre??

Like I said I don't mind a few mistakes....I don't really watch what I type on a forum. It's not a job interview after all. Occasional typos etc aren't nearly as distracting as your mess....

Now to add to your credibility, your reading comprehension is in question also.

I see all you can do is insult other people when they don't agree with your views and can't come up with a rebuttal. That's fine I expect no less from your type. So try and insult me all you want. It just shows your immaturity and I find it funny you have to resort to school yard tactics.

Your screen name fits you well as you are very crude.

BTW if no one told you this is the internet and shouldn't be taken seriously teacher.

Thanks, I chose my screen name for a reason and I see you're catching on. If you scroll back you'll notice you're blaming the wrong person for bringing my personality out...or am I too arrogant to see things YOUR way?

No your entitled to your opinion, but just because someone would like to voice theirs that might go against yours. There's no reason to try and attack the person with childish acts. I will be the first person to admit my spelling and grammar isn't the best. So there is no need to bring it up. It don't upset me as I am use to it and it shows others that uses it against me of how immature they are.

I even have a speech impediment and if you met me in person you would make fun of it also. It just shows how closed minded you are to go after people weaknesses.

This section was open to debate and not personal attack. Don't agree with what I have said? Then come up with a rebuttal. Who knows I might learn something new and I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong, but if you would rather continue with your personal attack on my spelling and grammar. Then you prove what I have said about you is true.

Another point to consider is the poster could be from another country so English is NOT their first language. I think most Europeans speak at least 3 languages. That is IMPRESSIVE.

I always say to those trying or learning how to speak English to NEVER be embarrassed because at the end of the day their English is better than my Russian (insert their language here).

English speakers need to realize that someone who can speak more than one language opens more doors to opportunities of all sorts.

No, the US war mongers get RICHER from the blood spilled from it's own people doing their bidding.

Here is a nobble concept, start helping the world build more schools and hospitals, get clean water and teach them basic farming techniques. Hell give them your old equipment. Improve the lives of others and it is less likely they will attack you. If you improve their life they will more likely be more LOYAL to you. They will develop their country and such trade with you and as their people acquire more wealth they will spend it back with you.

But I guess it's easier to drop a few bombs and collect the fistful of dollars the easier way. It's funny how the easy way seems to end up being the hard way except for the vultures profiting from you.
