Root [THEME] GingerFusion3.9 *Bluetooth Fixed 1/26/2012*

Ok my apologies to Spc hicks. Like you said i am frustrated and im sorry for my lashing out. Its just so weird that my bluetooth works with everything out there including the new aplus red flag but as soon as i flash to gingerfusion or gingerpinkie my bluetooth force closes and its only with these 2 themes. And i want your blue gingerfusion so bad! I just felt like your calling me stupid like i did something bad on my part like not wipe cache or dalvik or restore bad data and i have done nothing that i could have cause bluetooth to stop working. I followed the instruction to a T. Again i am sorry i came off like an ass and thank you for all your hard work and lets let by gones be by gones. If you choose to accept my apology that is.

Do you happen to use a data restorer like TiBu? I ran into nothing but problems with TiBu on the Ascend.
 
I can tell you that I have the exact same problem, and it is specific to this theme. It force closes every time I try to pair with my car, tablet, and my wife's esteem, but kanaida mentioned a work around by using Titanium backup after I paired it while I was on Gingersteem 1.0, and that worked perfectly.

It is very weird that it is only a few of us, but I can tell you that I am very good at troubleshooting, and this theme is always the constant.

Luckily I only pair to those three devices, so I will let it go as an anomoly that can't be fixed.
 
OK just retested and I can tell you now that Bluetooth does not work when I tried pairing with my other phone.. but I had connected it to my Bluetooth headset that I use for my ps3
 
FOR EVERYONE WITH BLUETOOTH ISSUES, PLEASE READ.

Ok guys check it out. I'm going to say again that the issue is NOT with the theme. Say what you want but here's the facts:

A theme has nothing to do with Bluetooth! It only changes images, text color, fonts, and bootanimations (if applied). THAT IS ALL! Its has nothing to do with bluetooth and it doesn't touch anything that is associated with bluetooth.

The Music app has NOT been themed, as stated in the OP.

Please try this hopeful fix and let me know if it works:

Go to "Settings"

Go to "Applications"

Go to "Manage Applications"

*Make sure the "All" tab is selected.*

Find every app that says "Bluetooth" in it, select each app one by one and click on "Clear Data" if you're able to click on it.

Reboot the phone and see if that works.

**NOTE**
If you have any saved data from previous pairs, this will erase it and you will need to pair the device again.
 
well i tried my bluetooth & it works, but trying to pair it to another device failed... dont care about pairing anyways as long as i still have Bluetooth.

To be honest, I'm not so sure it's impossible for a theme to have this type of adverse affect. I was touching up some things on my theme and messed up a .9 patch and settings would force close as soon as I clicked it and a I said I was only touching up some .9s so I know I didn't even touch any xml or smalis. Just throwing out the possibility. This has been a finicky ass phone to work on!

Yeah but if you need it it is a big issue, its like not being able to hear from your speaker when you make a phone call and me saying "well, I only txt so it's not a big deal". I'm not trying to blame anyone, just looking for a fix since obviously I like the theme and I'm trying to keep it and make it work.

Just tried this and it didn't work :( I'll keep trying other things and update. Thanks for the theme tho, I really like it, too bad I'm one of those few unlucky ones with this issue.
 
My Bluetooth works fine. I have ginersteem extreme and the updated GingerFusion3.9 on my phone. I just tested by connecting to my laptops bluetooth and had no problems.

Thats exactly whats happening its not bluetooth thats force closing its settings thats force closing and interrupting the pairing.

Im guessing you were already paired with your laptop before flashing the theme so you didn't have to repair. The problem is only occurring when you try to pair to a new device. But it could also be that this doesnt affect laptops because playfulgod also said he had no problems with his laptop. In my case im trying to connect to other phones, headsets, keyboards and cars.

So you guys can't get into the Settings Menu at all? If you can then Settings is not force closing.

No this is what happens after dropping down the pulldown tab and enabling bluetooth i then go to settings to scan for device to pair with. When i click pair after a few seconds a pop up comes up saying Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. And all you can do is click the force close button. When i do force close your still in the bluetooth settings but its no longer trying to pair like it just gave up. The weird thing is that the other device you were trying to connect to comes up with a pop up saying LG Esteem would like to pair and you can click pair. So i clicked pair on the second device anyway just to see what happens even though i know setting crashed on the esteem and the second device says passkey doesnt match. And thats how it ends.

Ok can you try something for me? Using Root Explorer or any file manager that can have root permissions. Take the stock Settings.apk and copy/paste it to /system/app

Trying to narrow down the cause but since I have a Revolution and not the Esteem, its hard to do.

That's correct, if you can get into the settings at all and click around then it's not what I was describing. Sorry, spc. I want saying it for sure was your theme as I haven't personally used it and if it was what I was describing it would happen to everyone.

Ok ive extracted the stock ZVB rom by MT and apart from settings apk there is also settings odex. Do you just want me to grab the apk alone or both?
