worth flashing if i already have 3.0, in your opinion? Id have to reinstall all my apps again :(

There's a flag on his site that says 3.01 is broke-can install but gets stuck at boot loop. Some don't seem to have the problem though. Myself I'll wait until that flag is withdrawn...

nice..so do you suggest getting 3.0.1? or just stay on 3.0?

I installed ud3 a few days ago and now the back button on my droid doesn't work. I had wiped all the data and cache and then installed ud3. I tried to rewipe and downgrade to 2.4 after a wipe, but the back button still doesn't work. Any suggestions? Is there any way to remap another key (like search) to work as the back button?

With the new T-Mobile themeing app that this and CM7 is running I don't think we are going to be seeing the option anymore. It is much easier now just to go to the market and pick a theme (the themes skin everything and don't need a re-boot to take effect). Not trying to start anything here, but that is the reason for those settings not being in CM7 so I would assume it is the same for UD since they are so similar.

Theme Chooser seems included with this rom. Only one theme is included, the stock theme. How do I know which themes from the market will work with Theme Chooser? Thanks.

Edit: I think I answered my own question. Searching Theme Chooser in the market, the themes note that they're for the Alltel theme chooser program. Do all themes work with UD3?

Do a Market search for T-Mobile Theme Chooser, or T-Mobile Theme app... that should pull up a few...

I have had this problem for a long time over multiple ROMs, the only fix I know of is to have the person resend the MMS...

I know the Droid wasn't designed to run Gingerbread, but does anybody else's phone seem like it's always out of memory?

If I am listening to Slacker, if I as much as press the home button the music stops playing and the app closes. The behavior of other apps is similar... there is essentially no multitasking capability and it seems like the OS task manager is aggressively closing apps automatically. If I go to "settings" and view the running services, I notice that the Email service is restarting every 20 seconds or so.

Additionally, the home screen redraws slowly every time I press the home button (using either the stock launcher or Launcher Pro).

I have also missed calls because the phone takes too long to draw the "answer" screen when the ringtone starts playing.

I am completely stoked by Gingerbread because it finally fixes all of the AACplus, Slacker, and Pandora audio quality problems that were introduced in Froyo. However I'm not sure I can handle the sluggishness of this new OS much longer.

(Yes, I did a completely fresh install after a full wipe.)

Since I installed this rom, I have got the best battery life I have ever had with any rom before, running ChevyNo1 1ghz kernel. My phone has never died or even given me a low battery warning with normal usage since installing this rom. Redraw times are way shorter than before - nearly instant, which is great. My G-Mail seems to be correctly syncing as well.

I was annoyed at first because the auto-rotate option seemed to have been broken on the homescreen, (auto-rotate would not deactivate on the homescreen, but worked within any app) but that turned out to be a launcher issue - easily solved by installing Launcher Pro.

I have not tried Ultimate yet but I have been rocking out with Simply Stunning for a couple of weeks now. I too have noticed the slow "draw" of different screens (mostly the Home screen). I have also tried different launchers with no difference. I feel that this is a pretty major issue and hope that it is something that can be fixed.

Try this, make sure that you have Compcache enabled and set to the highest setting. Also go in and set your VM heap size to the highest. Make sure that JIT is enabled and that you have Keep Home Screen in Memory checked (you should also do this for the messaging app if your rom has the option).

That should allow you to run GB goodness on the Droid 1 without worrying about our low memory. I have done the same thing with the CM7 nightlies and have not had any problems. I'm pretty sure the UD has the same settings.

I have already tried all of these suggestions (thanks anyway for the help). I did notice that the multitasking issues become even worse when I lock the Home Screen in Memory... this is what led to believe there was a memory management issue in the first place.

I've been using UD since 2.0, but maybe I'll need to try a CM7 nightly this time.

What is JIT?

BJ, the lack of multitasking ability in GB roms so far is the reason I went back to Froyo. Tried a couple nightlies of cm and multitasking was gone. If I was listening to poweramp and brought up Nav, bam poweramp stopped. Same in reverse. It will not multitask. Personally I think there's just not enough memory on the D1 to get GB to work right. Froyo might be the last useable os for this thing...

Try Liquid Gingerbread 1.3. It's nearly flawless... my phone has never been faster. Multitasking works perfectly... yesterday I was using Navigation while listening to Slacker and checking my corporate email! Also, AACplus playback has been fixed (finally) and the slow screen redraw issues are completely gone. I've been running this ROM for about a week.
