Last time I saw anything this stupid, it was when RFID proponents in Silicon Valley were implanting chips in their forearms and using them for employee badges.
Because that would sure prove how advanced a people they were.

I haven't seen a barcode tattoo in a long, long time.

I saw one the other day, the guy ahead of me in the checkout line had one on the back of his neck. I really, REALLY wanted to bust out my phone and scan it...

I'm actually sort of sorry I didn't and surprised at myself for showing such restraint. If the line had been longer I probably would have given it a go.

Two quick comments on this:
1. Just because it's patented doesn't mean that it will ever be manufactured. A lot companies sit on patents like this.
2. The way the details read, it's more like a temporary tatoo that is removable. I think it mentioned that it had a finite battery life and could not be recharged. So, this isn't something that you have a permanant thing for.
So, is this the mark of the beast... Not likely. Is it scary, slightly, but not as scary as it's being made out to be... Do I want one, no.

Just a patent filing, not sure it will come to market. Thousands of things are protected with an eye towards something that is not perhaps meant for us. Article mentions animals.
