Help Things I don't understand...

Other than women........;)

The basics:

  1. I have a Droid X2.
  2. I have had it for a month or thereabouts.
  3. I'm not stupid. (The exception being relative to the first sentence of this post)

ANYWAY.......

Things that I need insight on relative to my Droid X2 are:

  1. SD card VS. the "Internal Memory.
  2. What is the difference between the SD and SD ext?
  3. Why can't I move stuff from the Internal memory to the SD?
  4. Why are so many things saved to my "internal memory" vs. the SD card? Yes I have selected (in settings) the SD card as the place for things to go to.
  5. Using Astro and the confusion (in me) about the SD VS. Internal Memory does not seem intuitive. In fact This entire SD VS. Internal memory thing seems counter-intuitive.
  6. Is there something I am just missing?

What I want is:

  1. Nothing (other than OS stuff) on the phone.
  2. EVERYTHING else (photos, documents, media etc.) on the SD card.
  3. I have the Docs to Go paid version and have synched some files per the instructions and it all ends up on the phone.... NOT what i want.
  4. Is there some way to direct things (forcibly or otherwise) onto the SD card?

  1. If I enter an event via my Droid it shows up on my Google calendar...
  2. If I enter something from my PC into Google calendar it does not show up on my device.
I have more but I gotta run to a meeting so I'll have to add more later.....

Not every app can be moved on to the SD Card, I believe this is a setting that is left up to the app developer. I believe the advantage to storing your apps on your internal memory is that it will be accessed faster then on your SD card (depending on your SD cards speed). A lot of widgets need to be install on internal memory or they don't work right. I would download App2SD (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.a0soft.gphone.app2sd&feature=search_result) and it will show you in a very simple manner what programs can be moved to where.

This was VERY helpful.
 
One thing to note about putting apps on the SD card is that once you plug your phone into the PC, all the apps and widgets that are on SD stop and become unavailable till you disconnect
