In general? no. Most other Droids are better than the Eris in one way or another an match it in everything else. There is a reason Verizon no longer sells it.

I would suggest spending a little more on a newer phone. If that is out of the question, then i would say try to get your friend to lower the price a bit. IMHO the Eris is not worth 50 Dollars.

On the other hand you could buy it from your friend and sell it to Verizon:

and use the difference to buy a newer phone.

The reason i recommend a newer phone is because the Eris is very underpowered when compared to most other android phones. You could get a used Droid 1 with the difference you get from selling the eris to Verizon.

But if you have decided that you must have an eris :p, then you have not made a bad decision. The Eris is not a bad phone by any means and is a good phone for first-time smartphone users.

its not my first ive got an ally rooted with z4 and velocity rom but. i was thinking if i got this phone i could root it and maybe sell it for more or something.....i wont keep it for me hell no.. lol i got my ally and a droid incredible

I would agree. I like my little eris but as soon as I'm up for a new one (april) I will probably get the moto bionic if's out by then. If your just starting out the eris is a good for that. There's a lot of things these devs do for it and there's a lot of knowledgeable people that really help people out when they run into trouble. When I do get a new phone I will still keep my eris to play with. I have read in a couple posts that the 132.00 trade-in depends on where live.

132! wow ill have to look into that, im in new mexico so i dont know about that but i will call vzn...

there is a link in the post i linked. It will take you to verizons website where you fill out a very short form and they will mail you a box for your eris.

and the trade-in offer does not matter where you live. there were some technical difficulties for a while on verizon's part where certain people would get an appraisal value of 0 and others 132 and location was one theory as to why, but it is fixed now.

i think the eris is worth $50. but my opinion may be biased,as i just bought mine for $50 :p

ive got a droid 1 that i dint want to mess with since it will still get OTA updates,so i bought a used eris just to play with- to root and change roms around like crazy.

so as long as you dont expect it to be an evo or thunderbolt, then its a fun lil phone to mess with.

my 2 cents... for whatever theyre worth

yea i just want another phone and my buddy has the eris so i thought hey id buy it kinda cheap root it and install a rom make it some what chingon n then sell it for more
