Root Thinking about rooting my phone....

Connectz

Android Enthusiast
What are the pros and cons? I've never rooted before. What will i be able to do on a rooted phone that I can't do on an unrooted phone?

HTC EVO

It is easy to root. No real cons.

There are several advantages as well as customizing.

Apps that require root access.
Battery calibration
MSL Reader
Rom Manager
Terminal Emulator
Titanium backup
Wireless Tether

And others...

Everyone is going to tell you something different for the best rom. I personally like Myn's warm. First question is, do you want to keep sense intact or do you want more of a vanilla android?

Stop thinking and just do it :D

Once you root you'll be asking yourself why you hadn't done it sooner.

And I say give CM a try. You can dl the Rom from the link in my signature.

Would you all say that Unrevoked is the best route to go, if I want to be able to un-root quickly and easily and revert to stock (say, in the event that I have to bring my phone in for service)?

How exactly would be the best way to back-up the stock ROM and files, prior to rooting (or even after rooting)?
