thinking of buying one

thinking of buying one is it worth it on metro 4 g please give a pro or a con to help me decide thanks

Pros:
Speed - Incredibly responsive even at stock clocks with all of metro's bullshit apps installed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
CPU - Dual 1.2Ghz snapdragon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
GPU - Powerful graphics (Can play Shadow Run @ 810Mhz downclock with NO stuttering.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
RAM - 1 GB of RAM for a phone is a LOT!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Space - 8 Gigs of storage not to mention whatever you decide to slide into the sd card slot.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Size - Not much smaller than the esteem, and twice the performance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cameras - Both Front (VGA 640x480) and Back (5MP) Look great in all kinds of minimal lighting situations. There's not a front flash, but who wants an LED in their face honestly.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sturdy - Somewhat, this is both a pro, and a con. I have dropped all four of my connects, and only one of them even had a slight ding in it from landing sideways on the edge of my desk, and even then, I was still able to turn it into the metro store for a return due to a dead pixel without the insurance.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOT - Why's this a pro, and con at the same time??? Because the phone can TAKE the 120degrees that it dishes out at times when stressed fully! Most would melt just trying to accomplish that! - but that doesn't keep it from being ****ING HOT!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
BRIGHT Screen! - I live in Dallas texas where the clouds are few and far between sometimes during the summer, and there are still points in time where I was walking across the parking lot by my house and had NO shade, under direct sunlight, and my screen brightness STILL wasn't all the way up and I could see just fine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaker - Somewhat loud, although not as "deep" as I'd like the sound to be, that's acceptable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dolby Mobile - Not only does the stock player allow Dolby Mobile, and have a noise cancellation mic built in RIGHT by the headset, it also works with Beats ( I have a thread up about that int he root section)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
In-Call Volume - In Call Volume is not NEARLY as low as the Huawei Ascend, Samsung Admire, or Samsung freeform II & III - I have to turn down people I used to turn up.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Response - Due to it being capacitive (detects electronic currents from static in your body) there are moments when this is a con for me due to my big thumbs, but I don't have to slam into the screen to get it to respond either, so that's nice.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there are more, but you get the idea.

CONS:
HOT! - This phone gets too hot to want to hold sometimes. There have been moments where I would have to take it off my face because I thought my skin was melting! - Broken Out ROM, and Underclocking can help with this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battery! - The Stock battery sucks! I'd get about four hours of good use out of it before it died. The extended one from Metro is a crock of shit too! 2500mwah is NOT NEARly enought o crank this baby through a good eight hour day, get the 3800 from QCell off ebay, or amazon!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Responsiveness - This really depends on your fingers as to whether it's a con, but due to there being minimal "holding area" on this phone I occasionally hit where I didn't want to since I am apparently pure static, and set this screen off before I touch it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plastic Housing - Feels somewhat cheap, and honestly I'm scared that it'll end up making me want to commit suicide if I ever Do drop this phone enough to damage it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gorilla Glass - from what others have said about theirs, we didn't get a good grade of it...I dropped my admire down three flights of stairs so many times I can't even bother to count them, and it never even cracked, but people have dropped this phone from less than four feet, and shattered theirs, so god only knows.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cameras - The front doesn't have really ANY kind of quality to it. Due to it being VGA it lags in that "horrible webcam chat" kind of way that makes you think of vertical refresh tearing in a game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problems - I've had to return three of these due to dead pixels within weeks of receiving them. This last one I've gotten seems to be doing the trick, but wow, what a process to finally get a working phone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sure there's more, will add when I think of them, or when others list them.

its a good smartphone for the price. whether it will be worth it to you will depend on what you plan on doing with your phone. if you're just gonna call, text, do email and look at webpages, you should consider a less expensive phone.

i am planning to buy this phone todai ... wish me luck and i have seen a great prob whch is discussed by people here about battery being drained but i guess its because of such a powerfull processor ... give me some tips , tricks and apps names so tht i can use 4g network and at d same tym make the phone run a little longer... :)

depending on how you plan on using your phone, the stock battery isnt gonna last you very long no matter what apps or strategies you use. any sort of streaming or gaming is gonna rape the stock battery. the only way you'll be able to get that battery to last all day is if you use it VERY lightly.

there are some options:

- buy a spare battery and keep it with you

- upgrade to an extended battery. there's a 3500mah, 3700mah, and 3850mah out there on the net. i dont believe any of them are as advertised as far as their actual mah but they will improve you battery life immensely regardless. they will make your phone bulkier however. if you want to keep your phone slim you should go with the 1900mah. there's a 2400 or so mah out there but its also not as advertised and is more or less the same as the 1900mah.

- buy an external charger

good luck

Is it really worth the extra $150 over my attain though?

I'm thinking of buying it but is 0.2ghz and a shitty front can worth it in trade for recovery/rom and an oc which is most likely going to not be used if the battery really blows that bad.

It really is mike. Also take into consideration its a little bit more complex than just saying its .2 ghz more considering its a dual core s3, so your talking single vs dual core and double the ram vs the attain.

I liked my attain alot, but this phone just blows it away IMO. Screen is quite a bit brighter and crisper and responsiveness is insane in comparison even before root/broken out rom and over clocking. Though I never really had a problem with how fast the attain operates you definitely see a huge difference.

It is true, stock battery life is terrible. The juice defender + using clock speed profiles method I posted does help a butt load, but I finally opted for a 3500 mah extended from Hyperion. The larger back door actually looks pretty damn good on this phone as compared to other phones I've had with extended batts.

Did I mention almost 8000 benchmark scores? Lol.

If you get the connect, you won't regret it Mike.

Please, the screen alone makes it worth it, I used to hear people complain about screens and though who cares you can't tell when I was on my on, but it really does make a difference, I don't know what that difference is on the connect, but it is probably noticeable.
Plus its not just a .2ghz its much newer faster more efficient chipset. The admires can barely oc the s3 is supposed to at least carry 1.5ghz stock. So what if its VGA its not likw you're taking landscape pictures, iPhones have .3mp cameras on the front and no one complains about those :p you also forgot double the ram..
I personally don't own this phone but one with the same chipset and a few similarities, I don't know how the camera or battery on this is.
Development sucks on this thing though..

The phone itself is worth it. But you have to make sure you have 4g coverage in your area. Metro isn't known for their coverage. The company is expanding, however, but it's a slow moving process.
